IreneUnited States5 Stars Out Of 5Enjoyed it!February 8, 2014IreneUnited StatesQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Although this is listed as a book for children I still enjoyed it! There are some high drama moments so if your child is prone to get emotional while reading a sad story beware, this book will upset them! I did give this book 5/5 stars because it was well written and kept my attention. I liked how the main character was a child. I also liked how the child had to deal with some real life issues. It is a very well written book and worth the read!
I would like to thank the publisher for the copy of this book I enjoyed reading. I gave an honest review based on my opinion of what I read.

I was pleasantly surprised by the length of the book - it's a medium length chapter book, interspersed with a few pencil illustrations for an elementary-aged reader (probably 3rd grade and up). Anna's story (and the illustrations) reminded me of Little House, although much more tragic, I thought.
Although this is a book geared for children, the story made me cry at several points. However, the seriousness and hardship of prairie life was what made Anna realize at the end that it was her choice to be happy or sad - a good lesson for children to learn...and remind us adults, too!!
*I received a free copy from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. No other compensation was given, and all thoughts are 100% mine.*
