I purchased this e-book to read to my granddaughters. We really enjoyed each chapter but found the book short for the price. I appreciate the spiritual aspect woven into the story and recommend these books.

Just the right length for grabbing the attention and keeping it of age 7-11 girls. When girls grow up Mennonite on a farm, they are given many responsibilities or chores and these absolutely must be completed before even "approved" adventures and excursions can take place. After Elva finishes her chores, she and her friend take off in the pony cart to go shopping with their savings. They choose carefully the items they wish to purchase with their money and they diligently purchase the specific item that mother requested.

The day is filled with more than shopping adventure. The very elements create excitement and adventure they hadn't counted on. The few illustrations in the book are done by Elva Hurst herself and add a touch of sweet nostalgia and interest to the story. These are sure to please the young readers.
