I turned 37 years old today and my husband got this for me! He knows I am a huge fan of Laura Ingalls Wilder and this book is very close to hers in the activities they do, the places they go, etc. in her books. This book would be wonderful to share with a whole family. You could read the stories and do the activities. It is very educational. I have even learned a thing or two, and I only got it today! The artist is AMAZING! The drawings are frame-worthy. The picture of the book doesn't do it justice.
So far this has been a great resource. We have been reading the Little House series and I have found this to be a great addition to pioneer studies or just an interesting book to read on its own. My children can't wait to see what happens next in the Robertsons family adventures. The book combines an engaging story, real facts and information, pictures and activities to help you really understand what pioneer life was like. I wish there were many more books like this.
Wonderful information - explained in a fantastic way. Lots of pictures, ideas to try, and so much to learn. We are using this fas a part of our homeschooling but this would be nice to read just for fun too.
I really enjoyed this book.It reminds me a lot of how when we were young how we younster had to work and be a part of the working family. I love the way the author presents each topic. Thanks again Odette
If you loved Little House on the Prairie books, you will love this. At the end of each chapter there are several pages of factual information relating to something in the previous chapter. There are instructions for many easy pioneer projects and crafts. Both my children and I have learned so much about life in the olden days. This is a great home schooling resource that could be used as a family read aloud or unit study.
