A few weeks ago Tyndale sent a complimentary copy of Picturing Heaven to me to read and review. This is a new devotion book by one of my favorite authors, Randy Alcorn. This book contains short, one-page devotions, and there is a coloring page for each devotion in the book.

This book has been encouraging to my daughter and to me. I'm not one who likes to color very much, but my daughter loves it, so I knew this book would be a good one for us to do together. We enjoy reading the devotion and then talking together while we color the corresponding picture for that day's reading.

Heaven is a topic I have talked about often with my children over the years, especially when they were younger and first starting to grapple with the fact that they have a mom who is disabled and needs a lot of rest. Picturing Heaven is a great way to learn more about Heaven and start more conversations about life, disability, hope, Jesus, and the life to come.

The devotions in Picturing Heaven will help you to set your mind on things above and encourage you to keep an eternal perspective in life. The book is filled with beautiful illustrations, and those who like to color will enjoy coloring the pictures as they reflect on what they have read.

Author Randy Alcorn wants us to be excited, and to look forward to Heaven. These devotionals will make you think about things that may be new to you; such as the weather in Heaven, and enjoying activities we haven't dared to try. With the help of a good table of contents, I enjoyed pondering these things.

There are fun coloring pictures to go along with each devotion. Don't think of it as a children's coloring book. They are much more intricate than that. So get those colored pencils sharpened and spend some time thinking on Heaven!

I received a complimentary copy of this book but was not required to leave a review.

Picturing Heaven, written by Randy Alcorn and illustrated by Lizzie Preston, includes forty hope-filled devotions with coloring pages. Alcorn is a best-selling author and a leading authority on Heaven.

This book was designed to offer comfort and relaxation while encouraging you with the restful assurance that God prepares a special place for those who love Him. Alcorn hopes that coloring the pages illustrating Heaven will help readers to develop a vital view of the magnificent New Earth God is preparing for us He feels that pairing the reading of information about Heaven with coloring the pictures of it may lead readers to truly understand what it will be like. Each pair of pages includes a scripture reference, a short devotion, and a picture to color.

This is a wonderful book. The devotions are encouraging, and the illustrations are detailed and well-drawn. My only criticism is that the ideas of Heaven presented may not agree with that of all Christians. I would encourage one to look through the book before purchasing it in order to assess this issue.

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys adult coloring books and reading about Heaven.

I received this book free from the publisher and was not required to write a positive review.

"Everybody wants to go to heaven

Have a mansion high above the clouds

Everybody want to go to heaven

But nobody want to go now"

    ...Kenny Chesney

Remember that song? Personally it never was my favorite, but I think that is kind of the way we all think sometimes...

But let me tell you, once you read through this book... maybe even color the pictures, you will get a whole new feel for heaven. If you think you know all there is to know about heaven; Think again! Even after being a Christian my whole life, I discovered new insights on heaven between the pages of this book.

The coloring book has gold foil interspersed in coloring sheets and devotional pages on alternating pages. The cover is beautifully

done, and really grabs your attention. At first impression it may look like any other book, but what really brought this book to life for me, were the messages on heaven. The author incorporates even the smallest details about heaven, things you may have never considered. When you get through with this book, heaven will not only be a place you look forward to, but one you long for. It contains so much information that can be gleaned from the author's wisdom and study. The coloring pages themselves were not super impressive to me, but they kind of grow on you as you read about heaven and enjoy the short excerpts.

Reading the hope-filled "devotions", written for anyone, but especially, as an encouragement to those who already have loved ones living in heaven, made me want to color the pages. However, I opted to gift mine to a friend whose mother just left this earth for that glorious place, hoping it will give her comfort and encouragement as she meditates. A person may not agree with every way this book portrays heaven, but there is definitely plenty of food for thought!

I would highly recommend this book - as either a book for heavenly meditation, as a coloring book, or both! I received a copy of it courtesy of Tyndale Blogger Network, but was not asked or required to review positively.

This coloring book is absolutely beautiful. Each page to color is enhanced with gold either the back ground or parts of the picture. The pages before the coloring page has a beautiful Bible verse that represents the picture. I have had a lot of coloring books and use some of the pages framed and on my wall, but. I believe this one is the prettiest that I have seen. It just took my breath when I opened it the first time as the cover is colored in these beautiful colors. The author Randy Alcorn and his team did a marvelous job with this book. As Christmas is coming up this would be a great gift if you have someone that loves to color. Thanks so much to Tyndale Publishing for sending me this book in exchange for my honest review.
