This is an excellent workbook to help kids learn and practice how to identify special sounds to sound out words. When a child can identify those sounds and break down a word it helps them see it's not so bad and gives them confidence in reading. I completely disagree with mrs. teach. Using terminology like digraphs is confusing for kids and makes no connection. Simple and straightforward instruction is appropriate for this age. My kids also love the pictures and illustrations. It helps them stay engaged. They go to our local public school but I supplimented with Abeka during covid.

This book is exactly what I needed to work with my 2nd grader in phonics. I appreciate the speed with which Christian book was able to get the materials to me

I was disappointed by this curriculum for second graders. I had taught Abeka fifth grade in the past and it seemed to really challenge my students. This curriculum, however, asks the students to identify "special sounds" instead of teaching the correct terminology such as digraphs and consonant blends. My students are now very confused. Everything in a word is a "special sound," instead of learning suffix and prefix.
