The indispensable MacArthur Commentary on the New Testament emphasizes both an explanation and application of Scripture by an examination of the text that seeks to illuminate broad doctrinal themes in the service of God's people. Each passage is related to other passages of Scripture dealing with similar themes, and when necessary draws in linguistic questions to further support adequate exposition of the text-though these are never technical.
Sharp, clear outlines are provided for each section of the biblical book and guide the commentary discussion throughout each volume in the series. Sections comprise periscopes (i.e., 2 Timothy 1.1-5) and key words/phrases are highlighted in bold.
The MacArthur New Testament Commentary comes from the experience, insight, and wisdom of one of the most trusted ministry leaders and Bible teachers of our day. Each volume was written to be as comprehensive and accurate as possible, dealing thoroughly with every key phrase and word in the Bible without being unduly technical. This series helps provide a better, fuller, and richer understanding of God's word while challenging all readers-no matter what their expertise-to grow in a vibrant, personal spiritual walk.

Second Peter and Jude are sometimes neglected as the "dark corner" of the New Testament. But Christians avoid these two letters to their peril. Both letters were written to expose false teachers, and to strengthen believers in the truth. In a day when sound doctrine is devalued, their warning has never been more needed.
Join John MacArthur as he explains each verse in a way that is both doctrinally precise and intensely practical. Taking into account the cultural, theological, and Old Testament contexts of each passage, MacArthur tackles interpretive challenges and fairly evaluates differing views, giving the reader confidence in his conclusions.
The MacArthur New Testament Commentary series comes from the experience, wisdom, and insight of one of the most trusted ministry leaders and Bible scholars of our day. Each volume was written to be as comprehensive and accurate as possible, dealing thoroughly with every key phrase and word in the Scripture without being unnecessarily technical. This commentary will help to give a better, fuller, richer understanding of God's Word, while challenging the reader to a vibrant personal spiritual walk.

The theme of the letter is a condemnation of false teachers that were infiltrating the church in the time of the early church. Unfortunately those false teachers are still at work together, stronger than ever.
In John MacArthur's commentary on Jude we are given a thorough teaching on this often neglected epistle. This commentary has deep theological truths that are written in an easy-to-read format.
Writing about false teachers is easy yet difficult. Easy in that they are so prevalent; difficult in that many people are led astray by them. And as often the case those that are led astray are easily offended if someone points that out to them. In this commentary, MacArthur avoids offense in his denunciation of false teachers by showing in Jude and throughout Scripture the evilness of their ways.
There is also much history in the epistle that MacArthur explains and gives appropriate context for. Not one historical reference is left without comment.
No matter your level of Biblical understanding, you will be enriched in your faith in this commentary and will have a greater understanding of this amazon letter of Jude.
In this volume John writes about II Peter. I haven't referred to John's commentary on that book, at least not yet.

I can understand that to an extent; otherwise one could simply print his own version of the commentary rather than buying the nicer bound version. But it would be nice to have limited print capability so a few lines or paragraphs could be available in hardcopy form. Other than that one drawback, the downloadable version is well worth the price.
