Lisa Harper knows life. And she knows Gods Word. I love how she intertwines the two, bringing hope to the hopeless and help to everyone whos ever felt like A Perfect Mess. With fresh insight and poignant stories, Lisa reveals a God who brings order out of chaos with just a word even the chaos of our lives. Joanna Weaver, author of Having a Mary Heart in a Martha World
A Perfect Mess deftly applies the ancient truths found in the Psalms to our very frazzled, contemporary lives. Dont let her breezy, easy-to-read style fool you: Lisa Harper is clearly a woman who loves the Lord and His Word, and she handles both with care, offering amusing examples from her own messy life, even as she encourages us to get real about our ongoing need for Gods cleansing grace. Liz Curtis Higgs, bestselling author of Bad Girls of the Bible
A Perfect Mess will cause you to breathe a sigh of relief. Finally we are assured that we arent the only ones who need encouragement as we stare in disbelief at the chaos in our lives. Thank God for His reassuring presence and thank God for my friend Lisa. In her own unique way, she has taken truth, stirred it with grace, and then sprinkled with her gentle and warm writing style. The result is a delicious read that soothes the deepest parts of those of us who are a perfect mess. Read and be blessed. Priscilla Shirer, author and Bible teacher
This book is bursting with healing and hope. Lisa is a wonderful friend, Bible teacher, and storyteller who helps us find ourselves in the Psalms and understand that just as we are, we are loved by God. Sheila Walsh, Women of Faith speaker and author of Let Go
I read A Perfect Mess from cover to cover, soaking up every word of teaching and each great story that Lisa told. She is one of my all-time favorite Bible teachers, so what a joy to learn from her in these new lessons from the Psalms. I will never forget reading about Lisas mom who crawled underneath the bed one night to comfort her sad and hiding baby girl. What a beautiful picture of our pursuing Fathers love. So grab your Bible and your favorite underlining pen, open this great book, and begin learning for yourself how our beautiful God makes something perfect and glorious from our messy lives.Angela Thomas, best-selling author and speaker
What do climbing trees, tight-fitting clothes, loose-fitting sweat pants, and boogie shoes have in common with the books of Psalms? Dont worry, I didnt know either, but Lisa Harper has an incredible way of exploring a text written thousands of years ago and finding the relevance to our modern lives. Lisa points out something that I already knew but was afraid to admit: We are all perfectmesses, that is. She reminds us that although we may be messy, our heavenly Father has big arms and doesnt mind getting dirty. Chonda Pierce, comedian, author, and recording artist

I find myself relating to a lot of what the author is saying. I have only gotten through about three chapters and I don't want to put the book down. I find myself laughing so hard I'm crying. Great book of encouragement for women!!
Christy Lockstein5 Stars Out Of 5December 14, 2009Christy LocksteinA Perfect Mess by Lisa Harper is a refreshing look at the Psalms. Harper chooses 13 Psalms that are fairly representative of the different types: laments, praise, royal, etc and covers them in twelve chapters that can easily be read in one sitting. After the chapter are a few insightful questions that will truly encourage readers to make the Psalms personal. I've read other studies of the Psalms, but this one has to be my favorite. Harper is deeply and passionately in love with God and her joy radiates on every page. Her enthusiasm for the study of the Bible and love for God is catchy and readers can't help but want the kind of relationship she has with the Father. Her anecdotes are deeply personal and perfectly suited to each chapter. This is the rare Bible study that will leave the reader smiling and their heart overflowing with love for God.
adrienne5 Stars Out Of 5August 11, 2009adrienneI liked this book a lot. It was a great devotional. It was funny and had stories, which I loved. Plus, I learned a lot of new things. There were a couple of things I didn't agree with, but in most books that's the case so I didn't let it keep me from enjoying the book overall. If you need something to lift you up and encourage you I would definitely recommend this book, because that's what I used it for. I had been in a pretty bad/down mood one night and nothing seemed to be making me feel any better so I decided to try this book, and I laughed on the first and second pages. My intention was to read a chapter every night, but I pretty much finished it in 3 days, and wasn't wanting it to end. So yeah, good book.

I loved this book! It had the perfect blend of humor, relatability and depth.
kim hill5 Stars Out Of 5July 28, 2009kim hillLisa Harper is one of my favorite Bible teachers; her theological depth, humor & authenticity help me "get" how the Bible applies to my life today. In this particular book, she shed such fresh insights on the Psalms - a section of scripture I thought I knew pretty well - that I found myself deeply encouraged in ways I hadn't expected. "A Perfect Mess" reminded me of what an amazing gift it is to be adored by God...even on those days I'm not really living in light of my faith.
