I have no complaints about the contents of the book. However, I bought the e-book version and found it hard to navigate back and forth with regards to the footnotes/ cross references. I had to go to the contents page to go to the chapter where I last read after every time I go to a cross reference or footnote. Although I do understand that this problem is more of the CBDReader App instead of the book itself but it detracts me from enjoying the book fully. I recommend that people buy the print book instead.

Jordan McCord4 Stars Out Of 5Great.May 9, 2014Jordan McCordQuality: 5Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4This book I did not buy from here but a local Christian bookstore and me and my wife really love it. It has the Scriptures concerning Christ interwoven to give the full story of Christ from the Old Testament prophets to the Apostolic Epistles. It was made in such a seamless way that if it wasn't for the little letters indicating a switch of passages you wouldn't even be able to tell. Very easy to read font and font size. The notes however at the bottom are in a much smaller print. They're still easy to read for me and my wife but they're not even half the size print as the main texts. I'm over all very satisfied with the contents of this book. Its very helpful with stuff like studies in the Olivet Discourse. You will have the synoptic accounts interwoven with perfection. The notes at the bottom are notes from his self-titled study Bible. They contain some helpful notes just don't count on any of John MacArthur's exegesis on eschatological texts.
Knowing Johnny Mac is a self-proclaimed "leaky-dispensationalist", his interpretations on almost all eschatological passages are very lacking. He makes zero sense in his explanations of the crystal clear time texts such as Matthew 16:28 and 24:34 text that clearly teach a first century fulfillment (see also Rev. 1:1,3, 22:6). Says the texts speaking of the Abomination of Desolation in the Olivet Discourse implies a rebuilt temple and the Old Testament sacrifices are to reinstated! even though Jesus said that that generation to whom he was speaking would not pass until it was fulfilled when the temple or "holy place" was still standing. And why, when God's own Lamb was sent to be the propitiation for our sins, should the temple sacrifices ever happen again? The great Tribulation is past already. Its done. The Beast of Revelation was Nero Caesar. John MacArthur's notes even talk about the first few statements in the Olivet Discourse as having their fulfillment in A.D. 70 and then with no transition implied in the text he believes it goes on to talk about a future end of the world Tribulation. "This generation will not pass until ALL these thing are fulfilled" Matthew 24:34. This generation in all of the N.T. (genea) always means that generation that he was among (Christ refers to this generation a lot in Matt. 23 the previous chapter) Even Jesus hints at John still being alive when he returns in Judgment in A.D. 70. 22 Jesus said to him, "If I will that he remain till I come, what is that to you? You follow Me."
"Then this saying went out among the brethren that this disciple would not die. Yet Jesus did not say to him that he would not die, but, 'If I will that he remain till I come, what is that to you?'" (John 21:22, 23)
This makes sense of Jesus' statement in Matthew 16:28:
"Assuredly, I say to you, there are some standing here who shall not taste death till they see the Son of Man coming in His kingdom."
But I bought this book knowing what I was getting into with his notes. While being quite amusing at times I highly disagree with him when it comes to eschatology. But the text edited to where it all fits together is quite nice. A very fine read if you ask me. Its NKJV.
AnitaArden Hills, MN5 Stars Out Of 5Awesome compilation of the Gospels!November 11, 2013AnitaArden Hills, MNThe combination of the gospels into one continuous reading was just what I needed. Also, the footnotes provide great depth into almost every verse. The best way of obtaining a well rounded perspective on the life of Christ. Easy to read and easy to understand.
Proverbs 31 WannabeFloridaAge: 35-44Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Excellent ReferenceApril 17, 2013Proverbs 31 WannabeFloridaAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5One Perfect Life is more than just a harmony of the New Testament Gospels. It tells the complete story of Christ, weaving together prophesies from the Old Testament as well as the New Testament Gospels. Dr. John MacArthur was able to put together something I have never seen before and I am so excited that this book is now a part of my resource library. Not only does it read as a narrative, combining pieces of scripture from different books of the Bible, it allows the reader to more fully understand the life of Christ in a more linear fashion. I especially enjoyed reading the footnotes provided, as they provided explanation and details that I hadn't thought about before.
As a life-long Christian and someone who has studied the Bible for many years, I appreciate the easy format of this book. Unlike Parallel Bibles, which present different accounts in a column format, this book weaves the accounts together into a complete story. It shows how the different accounts fit together.
MacArthur begins with the Creation of the World with Jesus Christ - the Preexistent Creator and Savior. He continues with the Fall of the Human Race Into Sin and through Old Testament prophesies which fortell of the Messiah's birth. It demonstrates how everything in the Bible was put together to tell the story of Christ, from the beginning of Creation and through the Gospels.
When I first received this book I was excited to dig right in and wanted to read it cover to cover. What I found was that I really want to take some time and read the footnotes and really ponder and understand what was happening and how the accounts came together. I learned so much while reading and I know I will refer to this valuable reference tool again and again.
This book would be beneficial to those wanting to read straight through the narrative, as well as others who want to take time to read and understand footnotes, savoring each piece of the story. I highly recommend this addition to your reference library.
I received this book free from the publisher. I was not required to write a positive review and the opinions I have expressed are my own.
