    A toe-curling wonder of a read!

The romance is slow and steady and fraught with trepidation. I mean, I knew something was going to happen...but not that! Hannon kept me rabidly turning pages, alternately giggling and swooning and even edge-of-my-seating in places. Love how this once-bitten-twice-shy hero and heroine start to cautiously move towards romance. Reluctant describes them both but so does crazy-attracted-to-each-other. Such a dilemma! Be prepared for some fireworks and lots of sizzle right from the very first time they meet.

Ben all focused on a future that doesn't include Hope Harbor and Marci a passionate town newbie of two years. And then there's the issue of the lighthouse. Don't you just love stories about lighthouses? They hold a romance all of their own. Though Pelican Point has the potential to break these two apart before there's even a happily-ever-after on the horizon! Talk about emotional angst and impossible road blocks!

This is the fourth book in the Hope Harbor series but I'm thrilled to report it won't be the last! Hannon has created an appealing community brimming with characters I want to meet again and again. Like the amiably feuding pastor and priest and the mysterious Charley -- a renaissance man who seems to have all the answers even before a question is asked. He also has a talent for talking to animals...or at least understanding them. Including a pair of seagulls who have a penchant for being front and center at all the town's critical romantic entanglements.

As it says on the back cover -- Come home to Hope Harbor -- where hearts heal...and love blooms. Coming home is exactly how I feel when I read one of these novels so I'm hoping the author doesn't run out of HH inspiration any time soon.

Always ask the Lord Jesus for guidance. When things fall into place well it is not by chance, it is the hand of the Almighty which is orchestrating His plan.

When I find an author whose writing I like, I want to read everything that they've written and Irene Hannon is one of those authors. That's why I was excited at the opportunity to read her newest book Pelican Point, A Hope Harbor Novel.

One of the things I like best about Irene's writing are the characters who seem like kind and caring people. Ben is at a transition in his life. He's was an orthopedic surgeon with the military but is getting back to the civilian life. His grandfather Skip's death changed his plans and he has to stay in Pelican Point for a few weeks to deal with Skip's financial affairs, which included the purchase of a lighthouse that is in a state of disrepair. His unexpected meeting with Marci, who seem quite irrational, didn't go so well despite his good intentions. After that incident, he just wants to wrap things up and get on to the new life he's planned.

Not only are the main characters interesting and likable people, so are the secondary characters who help flesh out the town. I especially like Charley (and his tacos) and was encouraged to see Greg and Rachel grow and change in the face of challenging circumstances. The characters seem very real. The beautiful scenery in Pelican Point is described in such a way that the reader can imagine what the place looks like.

Irene writes in a way that gives you hope. The Christian faith is a part of some of her character's lives. At times the dialogue is thought provoking and insightful and I highlight it because I want to read it again.

I really liked the storyline and characters and wish this town actually existed because I would love to go there. Instead, I get to enjoy it through the imagination and excellent writing of Irene Hannon. If you want to read a story that will encourage your faith, be sure to read Pelican Point. Reading Irene's Hope Harbor series is like going home to a comfortable welcoming place.

I would like to thank NetGalley and Revell Publishing for the opportunity to read Pelican Point by Irene Hannon. I was under no obligation to give a favorable review.

Pelican Point was my first sweet romance by Irene Hannon. I've only read her suspense novels up to this point, and I was excited to try her writing in a different genre. This story is very sweet if not a bit predictable. Ben and Marci's introduction was rocky, and they had to look beyond their first impressions to see their potential together. I loved that a central object (the lighthouse) was able to bring so much good to the members of their small community. I was hoping that more of the story would take place in or around the lighthouse, but the small town setting and its colorful characters made the story shine anyway. I also enjoyed the book's spiritual message of God's plans being different than our own, and how being open to Him could lead to better, happier lives.

***I received a complimentary copy of this book from Revell through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
