For the past three decades, many history professors have searched for instances of racism, sexism, and bigotry in our history while downplaying the greatness of America's patriots and the achievements of "dead white men."
As a result, more emphasis may be placed on Harriet Tubman than on George Washington; more about the internment of Japanese Americans during World War II than about D-Day or Iwo Jima; more on the dangers we faced from Joseph McCarthy than those we faced from Josef Stalin. A Patriot's History of the United States reverses this. In this new book, America's discovery, founding, and development are lauded for the elements of public virtue, personal liberty, and private property. This 10th anniversary edition has been revised and updated to cover the trtuh behid America's discovery, founding, and development. 981 indexed pages, softcover.

Over the past decade, A Patriots History of the United States has become the definitive conservative history of our country, correcting the biases of historians and other intellectuals who downplay the greatness of Americas patriots. Professors Schweikart and Allen have now revised, updated, and expanded their book, which covers Americas long history with an appreciation for the values that made this nation uniquely successful.
Brandon Miniter, The Wall Street Journal
"No recent American history challenges the conventional wisdom of academics as aggressively as Larry Schweikart and Michael Allens A Patriots History of the United States."
Daniel J. Flynn, Front Page Magazine
"There are a thousand pleasant surprises and heartening reminders that underneath it all America remains a country of ideas, ideals, and optimismand no amount of revisionism can take that legacy away."
John Coleman, Humane Studies Review
"A welcome, refreshing, and solid contribution to relearning what we have forgotten and remembering why this nation is good, and worth defending."
Matthew Spalding, National Review
"Were the Puritans puritanical? Did the robber barons really rob anyone? What made the Great Depression so great? Historian Larry Schweikart sets the record straight."
"Any reader of Schweikart and Allens book will see immediately that it is a serious and substantive volume, based on a full recognition of the important secondary sources written by our major historians."
Ronald Radosh, Front Page Magazine
Donna5 Stars Out Of 5More than I expected but just what I needed!November 22, 2012DonnaQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This book intrigued me from the moment I heard of it. My education was at over 5 schools, both public & private. I kept missing out on any units about US History because of the timing of my moves. Maybe it was for the best because I didn't have much "wrong" information to correct!
This book is FILLED with facts that are each linked to a detailed source; this destroys any attempts at accusing Mr. Schweikart of fabricating his information. I love the pace of his writing; he keeps things moving and is great about connecting the different events of the time period he's covering. The timeline features are great! The research for this book must have been challenging and exciting! This is a true history that tells about the founding of this country, the Christian values it's based on. It also tells of all the ways that it's been under attack as well as the Patriots fighting to keep it's moral fabric alive!
The only draw back is that because of the extensive bibliographic data, the book is HUGE! After reading only 1/2 of it, my family was clamoring to borrow it! I decided to buy the electronic version (much lighter) and my original copy is now in the hands of at least the 4th family member, LOL! I haven't seen it in over a year, and I know it's being read! A Great Book! I will always cherish it's vast resources and will hopefully always own a copy of it!
Lawrence Bates5 Stars Out Of 5January 18, 2012Lawrence BatesQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This book is amazing in its literary quality and the amount of detailed information is stunning. This is more like an encyclopedia than just a history book. You will learn more from reading one chapter of this "book" than you could a whole history textbook from school. And there are numerous fun facts throughout. Here's an example: The word "Cajun" is actually is slang for "Acadia," which is the area in Maine which was a French settlement until the mid 1700s when the British ran them out and these settlers moved all the way down the Mississippi to what is now New Orleans, LA. So the French speaking people in Louisiana are actually Acadians. Pretty cool.

I did not care for a lot of the profanity and other inappropriate materials in this book. I, therefore, recommend it for adults over 21. It is, however, not appropriate for those under 21 unless it is censored for the profanity and other inappropriate material.
