Laura V. Hilton created a masterpiece with her characters, story line and words that created scenes that connected the story even more. They were not empty words but words with heart felt emotions. I didnt want to stop reading until I was finished; however, responsiblities of life prevented that. I read every spare minute I could till I read the final word in this top of the line Amish tale.
Jacob Miller was a disgruntled young man when he was sent to Seymour, MO from Pennsylvania, as a swap for young men to bring new blood into the Amish community. With Jacobs arrival to his uncles farm, Daniel Troyer, Jacob noticed Becky Troyer and how she seemed down trodden by never smiling. Becky had suffered at the hand of a young Englisher guy and was paying the price daily in her life. Her family supported her and she gave all she had to assist the family with her wonderful cooking, baking and household chores. When Jacob and Becky went to McDonalds for a fancy coffee, that Becky had developed a taste for while in her rumschpringe, Jacob encounter the Englisher. What transpired between the two men was not the typical response of an Amish man.
There are so many twists and turns with Becky even leaving to go assist her sisters family. Who is stealing all the letters that were being sent to Becky? Why did Jacobs girlfriend from Pennsylvania show up unannounced when she had asked for a break from Jacob after he went to Seymour?
Order a copy of Patchwork Dreams and discover this amazing story. This book is filled with determination, heartache, misunderstanding, faith, love and prayers being spoken throughout the story to show the strong faith of the characters. I felt each characters emotion whether it was tears or laughter. I cannot wait to finish the second book, Harvest of Hearts, in The Amish of Seymour. Im thankful the author included chapter one in this book.

Several Amish boys will be traveling from Seymour in the early spring or summer from Pennsylvania to as the Bishop says bring new blood to the small district. Becky is the first person Jacob meets and she is not so friendly wondering what he has done so bad that his parents would send him in mid-February before the others that will be coming. Jacobs plans are to help out then return to marry his Susie during wedding season. Sparks fly and adventure is around each corner as Jacob and Bex (as Jacob calls her) clash over and over. Sparks fly but are they the kind that come from friction or attraction? Will Jacob still plan to go back to Susie? This is a sweet story that keeps you turning pages hoping everything works out! A must-read!
Kathleen5 Stars Out Of 5Secrets, Insecurities, and CourageJuly 19, 2015KathleenQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I fell in love with both Becky and Jacob within the first few pages of this story. Author Laura V. Hilton brings her characters to life with all its complexities. Becky carries the burden of her failure every moment of every day. She has knelt and confessed, but without real forgiveness from the community. As a result, she is bowed but not quite broken. I cheered for her when her back straightened and she stood up for herself.
Jacob was responsible for some of that courage as he challenged her to enjoy life again. Of course, his own problems interfere with his quest to bring a light to Beckys eyes, with secrets and insecurity blocking their back-and-forth dance toward true love.
This story held me captive, and I thoroughly enjoyed my little visit with the Amish of Seymour. I look forward to reading the rest of this series. Patchwork Dreams earns five stars.

Tell us a little about yourself. I'm a pastor's wife, a homeschool mom of five children and I love reading.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? That God is the God of second chances. He loves us so much that He doesn't want us to wallow in our mistakes, but He wants to forgive us and shower us with undeserved love.
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? I think what hit me most was when I realized that God isn't going to withhold love from us. It was such a wow moment when I wrote that.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? I love reading Beverly Lewis, Susanne Fisher Woods, Mary Ellis, and other Amish authors - plus I have a wide variety of other favorites in other genres. Like Susan Mae Warren's suspense, and Kristin Billerbeck's chicklits, and Tricia Goyer's WWII stories, I could go on and on.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy Patchwork Dreams!
