This book gives the account of Noah and the Flood from the Bible in a fun way that children will enjoy. All the elements of the narrative are there: Noah, sons with wives, the ark, animals, and the rainbow. The full color pictures are cute and interesting.

There are two things that I especially love about this book. As a story for 4-7 year old children, it will definitely add vocabulary to childrens' repertoire: Words such as peak, carpentry, proceed, and virtuous are repeated throughout. The other thing I love is that in the midst of the repetition, the animals named are varied each time.

My children, who are above the target age for this book, thought that little kids would like it.

I recommend this story for families, churches, child care centers, libraries, and schools.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher, Tyndale House, for review purposes. The thoughts expressed here are my own.

A Patch on the Peak of Ararat is a childrens book; suggested for children between the ages of four and eight years of age. It provides the reader with the events and people prior to the Ark resting upon Ararats peak. The events are presented in a rhyming style which repeats all of the events once each new event is added. In the end, there is a Scripture verse and a listed passage which references the books content.

A Patch on the Peak of Ararat helps children learn by rhyming and repetition of what is read. This enables the child to keep the storys tale within their head.

Wonderful engaging children's book to tell the story of Noah and the Ark. The repetition catches the children's attention and they start to repeat out loud the parts they know. The illustrations are colorful and adorable. I read this book to my 6 and 9-year old grandchildren and they loved it.

Children love the beloved story of Noah and the Ark from the Bible and well they should because it is the story of God's love for a just man and the saving of mankind and the animal world during the cleansing waters of the Great Flood.

Take the style of the catchy rhyme "House That Jack Built" and reword it to tell this beloved Bible story, and you have a winning combination. Factor in some cute pictures that are stark, boldly colored, and engaging compelling children to return to this book time and time again.

This is the water that rained with the rush of a deafening downpour and gurgling gush.

And lifted the ark and each animal pair - hamster and hippo, hyena and hare.

And as a reminder, the last page of the book tells the reader just where the story of Noah and the Ark is in the Bible - Genesis 6-9. Also the promise of God that..... "When I see the rainbow in the clouds, I will remember the eternal covenant between God and every living creature on earth." Genesis 9:16

By the time you've read through this a couple of times, the kids will be repeating the lines (they are, after all, repeated throughout the story) until they surely know God's love and covenant between Him and every living creature on earth.

    I highly recommend.
