Passion to Action is an intriguing story, and Jay and Beth Loecken write from their hearts. Short blurbs from each of the Loecken's four children add a change of pace, and some personal challenges to readers make the book more practical. Some ideas are repeated more than necessary, and more dialogue would have helped readers engage more with the story, but the Loeckens' sincerity allows this book to remain an enjoyable narrative.
Overall, the Loeckens' story challenges readers to consider God's will for their lives. It echoes Jesus call to the rich man in Mark 10:21, which says, "Jesus looked at him and loved him. 'One thing you lack,' he said. 'Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.'" Although most Christians probably won't choose to serve by traveling around the country as the Loeckens did and still do, Passion to Action still acts as a compelling call for Christians to serve God with their passions and dreams. AbbieTexasAge: 25-34Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5authentic Christian faith in actionOctober 8, 2011AbbieTexasAge: 25-34Gender: femaleBeware this book will stir in you the desire to step out of the boat and not look back. Not everyone is called to give up everything and travel across America, however, we are all called to live with a "passion to action" in our faith. We are all called to a higher purpose, to be driven by our faith to act, to step out of the boat of our comfort zone into the greater purpose. Truly a fascinating story about a family who has done just that - and who has seen God work amazing things in their lives. So many modern Christians see missionaries as those who step outside the borders and confines of the United States. Yet this very nation, who has a high population of so-called Christians is the are that is in dire need of evangelism in its truest form. There are lost and dying souls scattered across this country that have never heard the gospel. So - the challenge - step out.

Brian and JenWest Lafayette, INAge: 35-44Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Powerful and InspiringAugust 21, 2011Brian and JenWest Lafayette, INAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5We love this book! It is an authentic look at one whole family who dared to say yes to the dream God placed in their hearts and minds to serve others. We've known Jay, Beth and family for nearly 2 years; they are broken, ordinary people who are living WAY outside a typical comfort zone to serve an extraordinary God. Freshly written from both individual and shared perspectives, this book is a culmination of six lives centered on one risk-filled decision to live beyond themselves and then the daily decision to stay there. The book outlines the real stories of their real struggles but also focuses on extending the love of Christ through service with dignity. They empower and motivate readers to find their own dream and then inspire them to take that dream, that passion, and put it into action. A great book by a great family_read it and allow it to impact your life.
