Publisher's Description

What happens when an ordinary girl finds the extraordinary love of God? By a well in Samarla, one girl found out when she came face to face with Jesus. Today' young women may be in a different culture, but they have something in common with that girl by the well: Sometimes they go looking for love in all the wrong places. Just as the Samaritan woman carried an empty jar to the well, they carry their empty, two-dimensional hearts, looking for one person, one more award, one glowing accolade, to fill it up and make it whole. True love is waiting at the well. In the eyes of the One, the woman at the well had infinite worth, meaning and purpose, and there's a secret waiting for girls who take the time to listen to what Jesus had to say to her that day: When an extraordinary girl fills up on the love of an extraordinary God, unforgettable things happen.

Have you ever read a book that leaves you breathless?

Natalie Lloyd's tender heart, sensitivity to God's Spirit, and keen insights into God's Word spill across every page of Paperdoll: What Happens When an Ordinary Girl Meets an Extraordinary God in a way that took my breath away. Each beautifully written chapter captures the thoughts and attitudes of the woman from Samaria whose need led to her wellside encounter with the King of kings. But Paperdoll goes far beyond Bible study. The author's vulnerability about her own failures and fumblings left me stumbling over my own. Stumbling—only to rise with fresh faith and renewed confidence.

We live in a world of paperdolls—those women with perfect faces, stylish clothes, and flawless makeup, the ones we admire on TV and whose faces grace the latest magazine covers. The problem? Paperdolls are flat, two-dimensional. And flat people can't experience real life.

Real life: that's the breathless beauty of Lloyd's book. Readers will see, feel, and experience real life and real answers as she explores the concepts of true beauty, inner woundedness, and the fulfillment found only in true love. A closing Study Guide includes suggested soundtrack and discussion questions appropriate for a Bible study group along with ideas for further reflection. But whether you share Paperdoll with others or read it on your own, take a deep breath—and prepare for God to blow you away.

Wow! If I could give this book 10 stars I would! It completely addressed issues I didn't even know I had. Natalie had done an amazing job pulling apart the story of the Samaritain woman, and I learned so much. Definitely going on my "best books ever" list. Would recommend for ages 14-1141

Simply put, I adored this book. If you have a girl, if you are a girl, if you've ever met a girl, you must buy this book. Paperdoll shares great insights into having God-confidence and living victoriously against the backdrop of the story of the woman at the well. Reading more like a coffee time conversation and less like a book, you will find yourself an instant friend with the author. She is a young woman who has been there and shares those experiences of depleted self-esteem, battling a world that worships perfection, boys, church, school, stress, attacks on faith. I loved how the book makes the spiritual content so real and personal. You know this Bible character and her heartaches. The highlights are the personal stories of the author and people she's encountered in her own life and in her work in ministry. Every chapter provided an A-Ha! moment and tons of things to highlight. Get ready to be challenged. Get ready to fall in love with a book. And get ready to fall in love with a God who loves you back and wants you to be more than a one dimensional paperdoll.

This is one of the best books I have ever read! Natalie just lets her paper heart come open in this wonderful book! I highly recommend it for young, spiratually strong girls of about 16-26. I hope you enjoy it!
