I loved this story written by Jennifer Johnson. If you have not read any of her other books, I have also enjoyed reading Maid to Love and Shoebox Surprise. In fact, if you have read Shoebox Surprise and enjoyed it, I am sure that you would enjoy this story also.

The story begins at the end of the summer holidays, where Ivy Adams is volunteering to help out at the local food pantry. Her very last, and most memorable customer of the holidays is none other than Carter Smith. Carter is a hard working man, who at the moment has hit a brick wall, and has no other option than to turn to the food pantry to get food for his family.

Unbeknown to Carter or Ivy, their lives are just beginning a journey together, as Carter's daughter just so happens to be a student in Ivy's class once school opens.

There is a lot of tension that needs to be worked through as Ivy's mom has her heart set on a good Christian man, who she feels is right for Ivy. However, Ivy does not have any feelings beyond friendship for this man. Carter on the other hand, is dealing with the loss of his wife, who died in an accident two years prior, and now feels guilty learning to love again and wondering if he is being true to the vows he made when he married the mother of his three children.

As much as Ivy and Carter try and keep their friendship on a business level, they are both deeply attracted to each other and so must each work out a way forward that they feel comfortable with.
