Paige Alder simply doesn't have time for all this; between work at the adoption agency, volunteering with the church youth group, helping her friend plan an anniversary party and a weeding, and being the go-to girl for everyone who needs a favor, she's lucky to grab a cheese stick for dinner. She can't remember the last time she pulled out her crafting supplies or spent time digging into God's Word, and she certainly doesn't have time for romance. But when handsome Tyler comes along, he forces her to rethink whether staying busy for God is the same as spending time with Him. Tyler seems to be the only one that Paige can say no to, but maybe he is the one that she should be saying yes to.

Amanda5 Stars Out Of 5loved itJuly 20, 2016AmandaQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0my daughter recieved this book and had it read two days later. she really loved it and cant wait to get the others. she said it was well written and included some very funny sections. she was also inspired to suggest a marshmellow gun for those who arrive late to church events ( read the book you'll understand).
Amie5 Stars Out Of 5I Loved It!July 27, 2013AmieQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I absolutely loved Paige Torn by Erynn Mangum! I had been looking for a Young/New Adult Novel to read that had a Christian message also, and I happened to Google "teen christian books" or something of that nature and Paige Torn happened to come up and I was so excited! I had finally found the book (and author) I was looking for! I ordered the book for ChristianBook.com and started reading it the day I got it, and finished it 2 days later! I cannot wait for the sequel, Paige Rewritten to come out October 8th, but in the mean time, I'll either read the Maya Davis series or the Lauren Holbrook Series, both also by Erynn. Thank you Erynn for writing books that keep the reader interested but also give a good Christian message! Can't wait to read more of Erynn's books!
Janna RyanNorth Platte, NEAge: 35-44Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5Excellent timing for my own life...June 30, 2013Janna RyanNorth Platte, NEAge: 35-44Gender: femalePaige is a people pleaser that can't say "no" when of course everything people are asking of her are good things that someone should be doing and God would want her to help out. Right? This book really hit home to me as I saw her life unfolding with more and more stress, less and less time for herself and finally at the point where she herself wasn't even really there anymore. Is that really where God wants us? To the point of losing ourselves because we are so busy doing good things?
Paige is a wonderful character that I can't wait to visit again in the next book, and she has a wonderful support cast with her friends and co-workers. But honestly the best part of this book for me was seeing the eye opening truths in it that I really needed spoken into my own life right now. Like Paige, I will be doing some praying to see what I can let go of to find myself again.
Melissa3 Stars Out Of 5I wanted to like this book moreJune 27, 2013MelissaQuality: 3Value: 3Meets Expectations: 3I really wanted to like this book more than I did. It sounded like a fun, light read.
Unfortunately, I had trouble connecting with the main character and finding the point to the story. I felt like there was just so much going on, which might be the point, that I couldn't focus on the story.
Paige is an extremely busy young lady, as many of us can relate to. She seems to be a people pleaser, which does resonate with me. But still I just couldn't connect with this story.
It could be because she is very young, but that hasn't been a problem for me in other books. There were also some writing style things that kind of distracted me. Lots of conversations happened that someone would say something and then another person would ask a question misunderstanding what was being said. This happened often. I can understand that being one character's quirk but not every character's.
That being said, I do think a lot of people would enjoy this book, but this wasn't the book for me. With as many books that I read there are bound to be some I don't connect with and this was just one of them.
A copy of this book was given to me by the publisher through the Christian Fiction Blog Alliance in exchange for an honest review.
SallyTampa, FL3 Stars Out Of 5DisappointedJune 26, 2013SallyTampa, FLPaige is a likeable, busy, people-pleasing, twenty-two-year-old Christian. Unable to say no, she rushes from helping one person to another. She barely has time to eat on the run. She believes she worships by serving and even neglects her Bible study because of her many commitments.
Some good church people wrestle with the question, "Is service for God the same as spending time with Him?" The author clearly defines the problem and solves the dilemma. I really liked this part.
However, one part that had me groaning aloud with disbelief was when in the space of one and a half hours, Paige takes "a long, hot shower," and takes her "time blow-drying [her] hair and putting on makeup." She then curls her "hair into long, beachy curls" and digs out her sewing machine and sews a skirt, complete with a hem! (248-9) No one could possibly do all of this in such a short period of time.
The BIG disappointment is the abrupt ending. The reader is left hanging and the author taunts them to buy the next novel in the series in order to read the "next chapter in Paige Alder's life." Really! I feel gypped.
Thank you to Bonnie at Christian Fiction Blog Alliance and Think for my copy.
