What is an eBook?
An eBook is an electronic version of a printed book that can be read on desktop or laptop computers, tablet computers, as well as many mobile devices and dedicated eReading devices.
What is an ePub?
ePub is the standard eBook format, which makes it possible to optimize and customize text and images for both large displays like your desktop computer and small screens like your smartphone.
What does DRM-Protected mean?
Digital Rights Management (DRM) ensures that the person who buys a file is its sole owner and is unable to create illegal copies to distribute on their own. DRM specifications for each eBook are set by the publishers who own the respective copyrights.
How do I purchase an eBook?
You can browse Christianbook.com’s extensive selection of Christian eBooks the same way that you would browse for any other product on the Christianbook.com website.
If you have a default credit card, when you find the eBook that you wish to purchase, clicking the "Buy Now" button will allow you to sign in and confirm your purchase. When you do so, your default credit card will be charged and your eBook will be added to your Christianbook Reader Library where you will have immediate access to start reading.
If you do not have a default credit card in your account, are purchasing multiple eBooks, or are buying an eBook along with other products, when you’ve made your selections, click the “Add to Cart” link. This will allow you to use our standard checkout process. When you finish, any physical products you’ve ordered will be shipped normally, while the eBooks will be added to your Christianbook Reader Library where you will have immediate access to start reading.
Why can't I purchase certain eBooks in my territory?
Unfortunately, while some eBook titles may be sold worldwide, others have territorial restrictions set by the publisher that prevent us from selling them in certain territories outside of the United States. We appreciate your interest in accessing digital content from Christianbook.com, and look forward to adding more titles in your purchase territory in the future.
If you have purchased an eBook in the past, you can download it from any location, so you will always have access to the eBooks you have already purchased.
How do I read my eBook on my desktop or laptop computer?
Go to cbdreader.christianbook.com. You will be prompted to log in to your account with the same ID and password as your Christianbook.com account. After logging in, you’ll be placed in your personal Christianbook Library where you can choose from all your purchased eBooks. Choose a book and start reading!
If you wish to read your eBook offline, go to the eBooks section of your Christianbook.com account. From there, you can download your eBook into Adobe® Digital Editions and read while disconnected from the internet. See the FAQ titled “Can I download my eBooks to my computer?” for more information regarding downloading your eBooks to your computer.
How do I read my eBook on my iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad/Android?
On your Apple device, search for "Christianbook Reader" in the Apple App Store. Or on your Android device, search for "Christianbook Reader" in the Google Play store. Install the Christianbook Reader App. Open the Christianbook Reader App on your device and log in using your existing Christianbook.com account information. Click on the eBook you want to read. It will take a few seconds to download. Then click to start reading! Once the Christianbook Reader App has been installed, all you need to do is open it, click on the eBook you want to read, and start reading right where you left off.
How do I read my eBook on my dedicated eReading Device (nook™, Sony® and Kobo® Readers, etc.)?
If you have a Nook HD, please visit the Google Play Store to install our free Christianbook Reader app.
Search: Christianbook Reader, install the app, and log in with your Christianbook.com username and password to access your eBooks.
To load your purchased eBook onto a dedicated eReading device—Sony® Reader, nook™, Kobo® eReader or many other popular devices—you must first download your eBook to Adobe® Digital Editions. If you have already installed ADE and registered your computer with your Adobe® ID, go to the eBooks section section of ‘My Account’ and skip the next paragraph.
If you have not installed ADE to your computer, you can download it from the eBooks section of your Christianbook.com account. Once ADE is installed, authorize your computer by clicking on the Help option in the top left corner of the ADE screen. If you’re installing ADE for the first time, you’ll need to create an Adobe® ID (which can be done during the authorize computer process). When you’ve finished, return to the eBooks section of your account page in your internet browser.
From there, you can download your eBook to ADE by clicking the “Download” button corresponding to the eBook you wish to download. Select either to save or open the file “URLLink.acsm”. If you choose to open it, your eBook will download and automatically open in ADE. If you choose to save it, be sure to save to a location that you will be able to find. Once it has been downloaded and saved, manually opening the file will display your eBook in ADE.
While you are still in ADE, connect your dedicated eReading device to your computer. When it is connected, your device will appear as a "bookshelf" in the left column of ADE. You will then be able to transfer the eBook to your dedicated eReading device by dragging the book from your ADE library onto your device. Please note that your device’s ID and your Adobe® ID must match for DRM protected eBooks to be transferred to your device. Once this is completed you can start reading on your eReading device immediately, whether or not your device is connected to the internet.
What is the Christianbook Reader?
The Christianbook Reader is an eBook reading platform that enables you to read eBooks on any device with an internet browser, while protecting the intellectual property of the authors and publishers. On an iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad, or Android smartphone or tablet, install the Christianbook Reader App for free from the Apple App Store or Android Market. The Christianbook Reader can also be accessed at cbdreader.christianbook.com on a laptop or desktop computer.
All of your eBooks and their bookmarks will be stored on Christianbook.com servers, so you can start reading on one computer or device and move to another without losing your place. This also ensures that you will never accidentally delete your eBooks. If you wish to download the file to your own computer, you can do so from the eBooks section of your Christianbook.com account.
Can I transfer my eBooks to my nook™ or Kindle™?
You can transfer any non-DRM eBooks from Christianbook.com to your nook™. For DRM-protected eBooks, you must use Adobe® Digital Editions to transfer the eBooks from your computer to your nook™. See the FAQ above titled “How do I read my eBook on my dedicated eReading Device (Sony® Readers, nook™, etc)?” for the step-by-step process.

Will my bookmarks sync between devices?
Yes. While you are connected to the Internet, your Christianbook Reader bookmarks will sync between devices. If you are reading while disconnected from the Internet, the next time that you connect to the Internet, your bookmarks will sync.
Please note: if you are reading on Adobe® Digital Editions or a dedicated eReading device that does not connect to the Christianbook.com servers, your bookmarks will not sync.

Can I download my eBooks to my computer?
Yes. To download your eBooks, go to the eBooks section of your Christianbook.com and click the “Download” button corresponding to the eBook you wish to download.
If you have already installed ADE and registered your computer with your Adobe® ID, skip to the next paragraph. If your computer does not have ADE installed already, you will be prompted to do so. Once ADE is installed you will need to authorize your computer with an Adobe® ID. If you do not have an Adobe® ID, click on the link “get an Adobe® ID online.” When you have signed up for your free Adobe® ID, return to ADE and sign in. After ADE is installed and you have authorized your computer, return to your internet browser and proceed to the next paragraph.
Select either to save or open the file “URLLink.acsm”. If you choose to open, your eBook will download and automatically open in ADE. If you choose to save the file, be sure to save to a location you can find later. Once it has been downloaded and saved, opening the file manually will open your eBook in ADE.
Where is the .epub file I just downloaded to my computer?
PC: If you have not changed your preferences in Adobe® Digital Editions, the .ePub file is located in “My Documents/My Digital Editions”
Mac: If you have not changed your preferences in Adobe® Digital Editions, the .ePub file is located in your “Downloads” folder.

Why do I need an account to purchase?
You will need a Christianbook.com account so your purchased eBooks can be associated with your account and your personal Christianbook Reader Library. Once it’s added to your library, you can read your eBooks on your desktop, laptop, iPad, and many popular smartphones using the Christianbook Reader. You can also go to your Christianbook.com account and download your eBooks to Adobe® Digital Editions, where you can read or transfer them to your dedicated eReading device.
How do I create an account?
To create an account, click here or on the “Create an Account” link at the top of any Christianbook.com page. Take a few moments to fill out the proper forms and you’ll have a registered account. You can also create an account during the checkout process.
What are my payment options?
If you wish to use our express checkout, you will need a default credit card in your account. Otherwise, you can complete our standard checkout with our normal payment methods: Visa, Mastercard, Discover Card, American Express, PayPal, Electronic Check or Christianbook.com Gift Cards.
What is express checkout?

How do I change my billing information?
To change your billing information, click here. If you are not already logged in, you will be asked for your email address and password. Once you're in your account, type your new credit card information in the provided form and click “Update Saved Card.” The information you just entered will now be set as your default credit card.
Can I send an eBook as a gift to a friend?
Unfortunately, you cannot send an eBook as a gift. However, you can purchase a Christianbook.com Gift Certificate, which the recipient can use to purchase eBooks and other products from Christianbook.com.
Can I purchase multiple eBooks at the same time?
Yes. To purchase multiple eBooks at once, simply add each of the eBooks you wish to purchase to your cart by clicking the “Add to Cart” link on the product detail page. When you have added all of the eBooks you wish to purchase to your cart, you can begin standard checkout by clicking “Checkout” at the top of any page. Once you have successfully placed your order, all your new eBooks will be added to your Christianbook Reader Library for immediate reading. The eBooks will also be added to the eBooks section of your Christianbook.com account, where you can download them to Adobe® Digital Editions. ADE will allow you to load your eBooks onto your dedicated eReading device.
Can I purchase an eBook and a physical product at the same time?
Yes. To purchase an eBook and a physical product at the same time, add each of the desired products to your cart. When you have added the eBooks and other products you wish to purchase to your cart, you can begin standard checkout by clicking “Checkout” at the top of any page. Once you have successfully placed your order, your physical products will be shipped to you as usual and your new eBooks will be added to your Christianbook Reader Library for you to read instantly. The eBooks will also be added to the eBooks section of your Christianbook.com account where you will be able to download them to Adobe® Digital Editions. ADE will allow you to load your eBooks onto your dedicated eReading device.

Can I read a sample of the eBook before purchasing it?
Yes. Click “FREE Sample” on the product detail page to add a sample of the eBook to your Christianbook Reader Library for you to read instantly. If you wish to buy the book with your default credit card while you are reading the sample, you can do so without having to exit the reading experience. All you have to do is click the “Buy” button in the top corner of the page and confirm your account information. Plus, all bookmarks will carry over to your purchased eBook. You can also return to Christianbook.com to buy the eBook.
Can eBooks be returned?
No, due to the nature of the product, we cannot accept returns on digital purchases including eBooks.
Reading Your eBooks
What devices can I use to read eBooks purchased at Christianbook.com?
With the Christianbook Reader App for Apple and Android, you can access eBooks on your iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad, or Android smartphone or tablet.
You can also access your eBooks via the Christianbook Reader at cbdreader.christianbook.com on any desktop or laptop with internet access.
Using Adobe® Digital Editions, you can transfer your eBooks to dedicated eReading devices including the Sony® Reader, nook™, and many others. ADE also enables you to read your eBooks on a desktop or laptop computer while disconnected from the internet.

What is Adobe® Digital Editions?
Adobe® Digital Editions is an eBook reader that is used while online or offline to read .ePub and .pdf files. ADE is also used to transfer eBooks from your computer to dedicated eReading devices such as the Sony® Readers, nook™, and other popular devices. ADE can be downloaded for free by clicking here.
How do I download Adobe® Digital Editions?
Click here and select “Install”. When it is downloaded and the program opens, you'll need to authorize your computer with an Adobe® ID. This will allow you to open your DRM-protected content. If you do not have a free Adobe® ID, click on the "Help" link in the top left corner of the ADE screen and select “Authorize Computer.” When the authorization process begins, a blue hyperlink will appear, prompting you to "Create an Adobe ID." Click this to create your ID. When you've finished, return to ADE and sign in with the ID you've just created.
Please note: If you are downloading your eBooks from the eBooks section of your Christianbook.com account, a link will prompt you to install Adobe® Digital Editions if you have not already done so.
Christianbook Reader Questions
What is the Christianbook Reader?

What is my Christianbook Reader Library?
Your Christianbook Reader Library is where you can browse and read all of your purchased eBooks as well as samples you’ve downloaded. To access your Christianbook Reader Library, go to cbdreader.christianbook.com.
How do I install the Christianbook Reader on my smartphone or tablet?
The Christianbook Reader app can be downloaded to any Android or Apple device.
It’s easy! On your device, search for "cbdreader" in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, click on the Christianbook Reader App, then click on the install button to add the Christianbook Reader App to your iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad, or Android smartphone or tablet.
How do I unregister my mobile device?
Go to the settings menu in your Christianbook Reader Library. At the top of this menu you will see the option to "Unregister" your device.
Please note: this will cause all eBooks in your library to disappear from the app (you will still be able to access them by re-registering your device or by downloading them from the “eBooks” tab of your Christianbook.com account).
Is there a limit to the number of mobile devices I can register?
No. There is no limit to the number of mobile devices that can be registered.
How do I delete a book from my Christianbook Reader Library?
To permanently delete eBooks from your Christianbook Reader Library, go to the eBooks section of your Christianbook.com account. Next to each eBook, you will see the option to delete from your library.
What happens when I archive an eBook from my mobile device?
When you archive an eBook from your mobile device, the eBook is removed from your device’s internal database. When this happens, you will notice the eBook becomes shaded in your Christianbook Reader Library. You can tap the eBook to add the book’s content back onto your device’s database.
Archiving eBooks on a mobile device makes room for others and allows you to hide the books you aren’t reading at the moment by selecting “Currently Reading” in the “View” menu.
If you delete a sample of an eBook in your mobile device, it is completely removed from your Christianbook Reader Library.
Can I lend eBooks to a friend?
No. Due to licensing agreements with our publishers, you cannot lend eBooks to a friend.
Can I print my eBooks?
No. Due to copyright laws, we are unable to allow printing of eBooks.
How do I bookmark a page in the Christianbook Reader?
Desktop or Laptop: As you are reading your eBook, in the top right corner of the page you will see a green bookmark. Clicking this bookmark will add a bookmark on that page to the bookmark section on the left.
iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad/Android: While you are reading your eBook, there is a green bookmark with a “+” sign in the top right corner of the page. Clicking on this will create a bookmark which will be added to your bookmark screen.
Will my bookmarks sync between devices?
Yes. While you are connected to the Internet, your Christianbook Reader bookmarks will sync between devices. If you are reading while disconnected from the Internet, the next time that you connect to the Internet, your bookmarks will sync.
Please note: if you are reading on Adobe® Digital Editions or a dedicated eReading device that does not connect to the Christianbook.com servers, your bookmarks will not sync.
My bookmarks aren’t syncing. Why is that?
Bookmarks can only sync when you are connected to the Internet. If your device is not connected to the Internet, then your bookmarks will sync the next time the device is connected.
How do I turn the page of my eBook in the Christianbook Reader?
Desktop or Laptop: To turn your eBook’s pages in the Christianbook Reader you can either use your keyboard’s left and right arrows, the page up and page down keys, or use your mouse to click on the left and right arrows at the top of the screen. You can also use your mouse’s scroll wheel.
iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad/Droid: To turn your eBook’s pages you can either swipe to the left and right, or tap on the right and left third of the screen to turn the page forward and backward, respectively. Tapping the middle third of the screen will open the eBook menu.
How can I customize my Christianbook Reader reading experience?
No matter what device you are using to access the Christianbook Reader, you will have the option to change your font, font size, and choose whether your text is left or full justified. On your desktop or laptop you are able to toggle between one and two page displays of the eBook. On mobile devices, you also have the option to read black text on a white background, or white text on a black background.
Can I search within my eBooks?
Yes. On your desktop or laptop, you can search for specific terms in the eBook using the form in the “Search” section on the left side of the eBook Reader display. Search results are displayed below this form as links to the locations in the eBook where the search term you specified appear.
How do I highlight text in the Christianbook Reader?
In order to highlight within the Christianbook Reader, tap and hold on a word you want to highlight or incorporate in your highlight. You can then drag your finger to encompass all you want highlighted, and you can select "Highlight" when you take your finger off of the screen.
