Steadfast Curriculum

Steadfast Press provides a classical high school curriculum that guides students through the Rhetoric stage, as it integrates literature and composition, worldview and philosophy, history and geography, Bible and the humanities, and political theory and government. Steadfast brings together faith and academics with a Christ-honoring focus that cultivates both the mind and the heart.

Year One: History & Humanities

In Steadfast History & Humanities Year One, high school history lessons cover the ancient civilizations of Mesopotamia, Egypt, Greece, and Rome and the origins of Judaism and Christianity. Students will also learn to compare and contrast a biblical worldview with the prominent worldviews that have arisen through history as they study the ancient Greek philosophers and the ideas that shaped Western civilization. Thirty-four weeks of reading assignments and comprehension questions, writing assignments, timeline instructions, video clip suggestions, and more provide a comprehensive course eligible for high school credit. Designed to be paired with Steadfast Literature & Composition Year One.

Year One: Literature & Composition

In Steadfast Literature & Composition Year One your student will read and analyze some of the oldest documents in Western Civilization, delving into their cultural and historical significance and looking for meaning through a biblical worldview lens. Composition lessons cover paragraph and essay structure; developing arguments; drawing conclusions; elements of style; reading and writing fluency; rhetorical, analytical, and creative writing; and critical thinking. Students completing 34 weeks of reading and writing assignments and comprehension assessments may be eligible for high school credit. Year Two: History & Humanities

In Steadfast History & Humanities Year Two, high school students journey from the fall of Rome through the Middle Ages, Renaissance, and Reformation. They study major worldviews, compare Christianity to other world religions of the time, and explore art, music, and literature within historical context. Along the way, they write personal faith statements and develop critical thinking through reading, discussion, and writing—all while seeing God’s unfolding plan throughout history. Thirty-four weeks of reading assignments and comprehension questions, writing assignments, timeline instructions, video clip suggestions, and more provide a comprehensive course eligible for high school credit. Designed to be paired with Steadfast Literature & Composition Year Two.

Year Three: History & Humanities

In Steadfast History & Humanities Year Three, your student will study American history, government, and culture with a biblical worldview, covering the Constitution, Bill of Rights, the Civil War, Reconstruction, westward expansion, and the Great Awakenings. They will also explore Enlightenment philosophy, European revolutions, and artistic movements like Romanticism. Integrated Christian apologetics helps them evaluate current events and develop thoughtful, faith-based responses to modern cultural and political challenges. Students explore speeches, poetry, short stories, nonfiction, and novels while using reader response journals to reflect on meaning and worldview. Instead of analyzing others’ techniques, they develop their own writing using the elements of fiction, style, and persuasion. This final year encourages personal engagement with literature from a biblical worldview. With guided instruction in the writing process, students learn to interpret literature within historical and cultural context, sharpening their ability to think critically and communicate effectively in written form. Students completing 34 weeks of reading and writing assignments and comprehension assessments may be eligible for high school credit.
