Stressing science and social studies connections, Math 3 uses simulations and games to help your students understand and practice new concepts. This course covers skip-counting; identifying ordinal positions; adding and subtracting multi-digit numbers; dividing by single-digit divisors; adding positive and negative numbers; adding and subtracting fractions; plus measurements, mass, function rules, coordinate graphs, angles, and lines of symmetry.

Saxon teaches students using a spiral-format that consistently reviews older concepts, adding more and more information to concepts they've previously encountered.

The teacher's edition contains all the information needed to teach the course through 140 fully scripted lessons that include child-friendly language and techniques proven effective. Each lesson includes four components: The Meeting, The Lesson, Class Practice, and Written Practice. Every fifth lesson includes a written assessment and every tenth lesson includes an oral assessment. Teaching math through a variety of hands-on manipulatives, this program is perfect for students who have a kinesthetic learning style. The included student workbooks and fact cards provide written practice sheets for each lesson, fact sheets, assessments, and color-coded fact cards. Children are given the appropriate tool as described in the lessons; fact cards and fact sheets are designed to provide students with additional practice and to give them the opportunity to use fact strategies from the lesson to solve problems.

Saxon's Meeting Book is a blank calendar designed to keep track of your student's progress in Saxon Math 3. Check off when the daily exercise- -whether telling time or problem solving- -is practiced. The calendar follows a school year, beginning in August and ending in July. The back also contains tips for learning the months of the year, room to record birthdays, a blank measurement comparison chart, space to write number words, counting strips, and zigzag number line. 24 pages, softcover.

This teacher's guide is the most important component in the Saxon Math 3 program and the program cannot be used without it. Each chapter includes a preparation information section that includes materials needed, what to do the night before, and what to do in the morning. The fully-scripted lesson follows with dedicated sections for the "meeting," "lesson," "class practice," and "written practice" aspects of the lesson. Each "meeting" and "lesson" is fully scripted, with the teacher's comments to the student written in bold, italic font, and organized logically under skill subject headings. This student workbook and fact card set includes everything your student needs to get the consistent practice needed for understanding math using the Saxon Math 3 program. The two flip-top style workbooks include over 130 worksheets as well as assessment forms. Drill sheets are single-sided, but worksheets are double-sided and labeled Side A/Side B; Side A is completed with assistance during the lesson, and Side B is completed later in the day in an effort to improve retention. 1-2 fact sheets are completed daily. Twenty-six pages of color-coded "fact cards" provide plenty of addition, subtraction multiplication, and division review, and provide an opportunity for students to use fact strategies from the lesson to solve problems.
