Language Lessons for a Living Education 1 uses a story-based approach to develop oral and written communication skills in your young student. A blend of stories, poems, Scripture, picture study, copywork, oral narration provide gentle, Charlotte Mason-style instruction in phonics, reading, grammar, vocabulary, and spelling. Designed to follow Kindergarten phonics instruction such as Master Books’ Foundation Phonics or another phonics course that teaches CVC and beginning sight words, this Grade 1 program covers the basics of reading, writing words and then sentences, creating their own dictionary, and more. Involving minimal teacher prep, this open-and-go resource includes a daily schedule and manageable lessons that take between 20 to 30 minutes, five days a week. 352 pages, softcover. Grade 1.

Language Lessons for a Living Education 2 is designed for Grade 2 students and uses a story-based approach to teach language. A story is given, and is followed by narration practice, grammar practice, and copywork practice. Phonics, picture studies, spelling and observation skills are also integrated. Each quarter has five stories, two picture studies (one of which is Bible-based), and two poems (one of which is a Psalm). Using the spelling words and the Dictionary Worksheets student will create their very own dictionary as they move week by week through the material. By the end of the course, students should have developed their early reading and narration skills and be able to comfortably write up to three sentences at a time. 476 pages, softcover, three-hole-punched. 2nd Grade.

A reading selection is followed by five daily exercises that include a mix of sight-word practice, narration or observation work, spelling practice, reading comprehension practice, grammar practice, reading comprehension practice, and more. Each quarter has five stories, two picture studies (one of which is Bible-based), and two poems (one of which is a Psalm). Using the spelling words and the Dictionary Worksheets student will create their very own dictionary as they move week by week through the material. Each quarter features five stories, two picture studies (one of which is Bible-based), and two poems (one of which is a Psalm). Students will develop their reading skills and narration skills and by the end of the course should be able to write a four to five-sentence paragraph.

Language Lessons for a Living Education 6 is designed for Grade 6 students and uses a story-based approach to teach language. The first day of the week is a special feature; every other week starts with reading and activities related to the 10 Minute Bible Journey (not-included and sold-separately) with the weeks in between alternating between picture studies and reading poetry or a proverb. A lesson follows giving students a change to apply their creative writing skills. The second and third days of the week cover writing topics such as grammar and punctuation. The fourth day has students completing a different set of activities from The 10 Minute Bible Journey. The fifth day focuses on spelling and vocabulary with a focus on syllables, pronunciation and rules. Using the spelling words and the Dictionary Worksheets student will create their very own dictionary as they move through the material.

Quarterly reviews are integrated in the course, and can be used as quizzes or tests for assessment. A section of teacher aids at the back of the book includes assessments, extra practice pages, study sheets, fun games, and more. "Just4Fun" activities provide extra critical thinking and problem-solving practice and are designed to be a fun break from the regular lesson
