  • Madeline, Madeline's Rescue, Madeline and the Bad Hat, Madeline and the Gypsies, Madeline in London, and Madeline's Christmas.

Nothing frightens Madeline - not tigers, not mice, not even getting sick. Even a trip to the hospital is a grand adventure. With its endearing heroine, cheerful humor, and famous paintings of Paris, it's no wonder this Caldecott Honor Book is one of the best-loved children's stories of all time. A true classic, Madeline continues to enchant readers after sixty years. A picture Puffin book. Recommended for ages 4 to 8. A 1940 Caldecott Honor Book.

Miss Clavel is thrilled when the Spanish Ambassador and his son, Pepito, move into the neighborhood, but Madeline knows right away that the boy is a Bad Hat. He tries to impress her, but Madeline wants nothing to do with him. Then one day his plans backfires. Will a run-in with an angry cat be enough to reform this Bad Hat?

Pepito has moved far away, and he misses Madeline. To help celebrate his birthday, Miss Clavel and the girls travel to England to pay him a visit. Seeing Pepito is so much fun, and he and Madeline have a wild adventure when his new horse takes them on an unplanned tour of London. But then Pepito's mother says his pet has to go. Will the horse find a new home with twelve little girls and Miss Clavel?

And they've taken Madeline and Pepito with them! Miss Clavel is beside herself, but Madeline and Pepito are having the time of their lives. They don't have to go to school, brush their teeth, or ever go to sleep. But soon Madeline and Pepito start to feel homesick. The gypsies don't want to let them go, so it's up to Miss Clavel to find Madeline and Pepito and bring them home.

To the ghost, Madeline said "Pooh-pooh."

Madeline and her favorite companion in mischief, Pepito, embark on their wildest adventure yet. When ghostly moans lead them to the attic of the old house in Paris, they discover Felix de La Morte, who has lingered there for hundreds of years, waiting for the return of a certain comet. With the comet due to return the very next day, the poor fellow’s telescope has been stolen by mean Lord Cucuface, and it is up to Madeline and Pepito to get it back. A nighttime trip across Paris, a midnight apparition, and all is happily resolved in time for the three new friends to view the comet on a starry night.
