Developed for younger children in grades K-3, WriteShop Primary includes fun, colorful, and meaningful activities that provide an introduction to early writing skills flexible enough for children to work at their own pace.

WriteShop Primary: Book A

Developed for younger children in grades K-3, WriteShop Primary provides the same incremental approach to using vivid words, but without the rigor that can often discourage young kids from writing. Fun, colorful, and meaningful activities provide an introduction to early writing skills flexible enough for children to work at their own pace.

Writing is a skill that needs to be taught, and WriteShop makes it easy for the homeschool parent. One lesson every three weeks, working three days per week, allows for focused instruction time in appropriately large quantities and helps to reduce frustration and ensure mastery; lesson plans for one lesson every two, and every week, are also included. Plans for teaching children at multiple levels and using different books are also provided, making life simpler for homeschoolers teaching multiple age ranges.

Lessons have a specific focus, with all the lessons in a book focused around a theme (with optional other themes designed to fit into common unit studies), lesson objectives, materials needed, advance prep, and guided activities sets and guided writing practice instructions. Semi-scripted lessons provide all you need, including questions, instructions, examples of completed work, reduced versions of the sold-separately WriteShop Primary Student Worksheet Pack, and other instructions.

This program is designed to be used incrementally, from each sold-separately Book A, B, and C. "Flying Higher" and "Want to Do More?" activities are provided for advanced students who want more of a challenge. Book A is recommended for 1st grade or a 2nd grader with limited writing experience. 186 pages, indexed, softcover, spiralbound.
