PAF (Preventing Academic Failure) is a 3-year program that uses Orton-Gillingham multisensory techniques to teach reading and spelling. It is designed to be used with Kindergarten and first graders with learning differences. It can also be used with older students who are struggling with reading. The building blocks of written language arts are presented in a logical, step-by-step order to help students experience more confidence and less frustration.

Reading Comprehension in Varied Subject Matter features nonfiction reading passages covering social studies, science, literature, mathematics, philosophy, logic, language, the arts, and combined subjects. The Story of the USA uses topics in American history to develop vocabulary and comprehension skills. Reading passages are written for the upper elementary and middle school level using language that is easy to read and understand. Chapters include vocabulary sections and multiple choice, true/false, and filling the blank questions as well as writing and discussion activities. Review and cumulative tests are included. Topics cover history from the explorers to Presidents Kennedy and Johnson. Grades 4 - 8.

Analogies teach students to process information, make important connections, use information to identify relationships, and construct relationships. With these skills, they can improve understanding and long-term memory. With EPS's K - 12 Analogies programs, they'll sharpen their reasoning skills and develop critical thinking. Primary Analogies for grades K - 3 introduces younger students to the concept of analogies with practice categorizing and comparing and moves on to use picture and simple word analogies. Ridgewood Analogies for grades 4 - 6 teaches students to solve analogies using five kinds of relationships: descriptive, comparative, categorical, serial, and causal, with gradually increasing levels of difficult vocabulary. The analogies are organized by subject areas: geography, history and government, language arts, and math. Analogies 1, 2, 3 for grades 7 - 12 teach techniques for complex analogies and increase students' vocabulary. Grades K - 12.

In this 3-book grammar series, students will discover that grammar is just another name for the patterns that exist in language. In lessons students identify grammatical principles and rules as they analyze examples and answer directed questions. a variety of traditional and innovative exercises provide practice and review. The Ridgewood Grammar series emphasizes the link between grammar study and clear, effective writing. The books introduce students in upper elementary grades to a close study of the parts of speech and their functions in sentences. Book 2 introduces diagramming as a way to understand sentences and parts of sentences. Grades 3 - 5.

Words Are Wonderful provides an interactive approach to building vocabulary skills combined with word study. Students learn that words are made of roots, prefixes, and suffixes that, along with context clues, can help to unlock the meanings of unfamiliar words. Lessons begin with high-interest reading passages, drawn from science, social studies, geography, myths, fables, and poetry, with a range of vocabulary words. Comprehension and critical thinking questions, vocabulary exercises, dictionary skills, writing exercises, and other strategies for learning to read and remember vocabulary words are also included. Interactive components include clapping syllables, reading aloud, discussing new words may appeal to kinesthetic learners.

Using Spellwell, just 30 minutes of lesson-time per week will have your students absorbing new grade-level words that they'll find in their reading experience. Lessons include words that follow a specific spelling rule or pattern, sight words, as well as room for words that the student or teacher chooses, such as words that are part of science or social studies topics. Just Write helps students become confident, expressive, and creative writers through fun exercises, engaging text, and kid-friendly examples. Lessons guide students through the writing process from initial idea to final edited and published narrative. Detailed models are included throughout, giving kids a helpful guide for each new skill.
