New! Analytical Grammar
Developed by an experienced language arts teacher, Analytical Grammar has been a longstanding favorite grammar program for homeschoolers. Now DemmeLearning, the publisher of Math-U-See, has restructured it for a new generation and easier implementation. Rather than repetitive lessons that cover the same concepts over and over each year, Analytical Grammar helps students build their knowledge sequentially at their own pace, with concise, concrete lessons and plenty of practice. Each level takes part of the school year to complete, then students are free to apply what they’ve learned to the writing and reading assignments in their other language arts programs, while continuing to review with bi-weekly review worksheets during the rest of the school year.

Literature Analysis for High School
Most high schoolers ask some version of this question: “why do I have to read this old book anyway?” Often students view the “classics” they need to read as individual works that do not relate to each other. Yet nothing could be further from the truth! In The Eternal Argument, Finley, an English teacher with decades of experience, will help you, the parent, discuss great works of western literature with your high schooler. Soon the dusty tomes they’re reading will become a compelling way to observe and analyze how humanity has wrestled with pressing moral issues throughout history and through genres of literature. Incorporated into the argument is an introduction to the idea of identifying and understanding the concept of worldview in art. Ideally, parents/teachers read aloud chapters 1 to 13 with students and use the questions at the end of each chapter to spur discussion. Each chapter of this book touches upon a Great Work and helps students acquire the intellectual tools to be able to fully interpret literature. Providing an overarching framework on which to hang different arguments and ideas, this unique work will encourage students to see the big, connected themes in “those old books.” Softcover or audiobook. High school through adult.
