All About Math Level 1 is the first of five levels in a delightful, multisensory program that carefully builds children's understanding of how our number system works. It moves them from counting to adding and subtracting two-digit numbers and solving story problems.

Foundational skills = fluent readers! Mastery-based All About Reading is an Orton-Gillingham-based phonics program that's a homeschool mom favorite because it's open-and-go, multi-sensory, colorful, engaging, affordable, and it works! Scripted lessons that take about 20 minutes a day provide instruction in phonological awareness, phonics and decoding, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension. All About Reading will become your family's favorite part of the day!

All About Reading is a mastery-based program, so levels do not correspond to grade levels, but to the skills that the child has become proficient in. For this reason, All About Reading may also provide the right learning experience for older students who need remediation or have developmental delays with fine motor or speech.

Each level has a Materials Set that includes most of the items you need to teach one student. Just add the required Letter Tiles and sturdy Review Boxes with laminated divider cards, which are both used throughout all the Levels. All the books, readers, flashcards, and stickers are also available individually, including the Student Packet, necessary for each student being taught.

A perfect program for preschoolers, kindergarteners, and their teachers! All About Reading’s mastery-based Pre-Reading Program focuses on fundamental skills: letter knowledge, phonological awareness, print awareness, listening comprehension, and motivation to read. Each of the 78 lessons require very little prep so you can focus on your child and keep the lesson time short, fun, and engaging. Plenty of hands-on activities, games, and crafts are included to motivate young learners to want more!

In Level 1, students will learn techniques for syllable counting and the alphabet phonograms plus six of the most common two-letter phonograms. Covered decoding skills include reading short vowel words using learned phonograms, reading “Floss” words, words with the most common initial and final blends, plurals using “s” and “es”, and some compound words. Vocabulary, reading fluency, and comprehension are all emphasized throughout.

In Level 2, students will learn three-letter blends, the jobs of Silent E, more new phonograms, methods for decoding multisyllable words, reading words with the past tense ending -ed, and more concepts. They'll also practice comprehension skills like comparing/contrasting main characters, skimming for information, making inferences, and more. Vocabulary and reading fluency are emphasized throughout.

In Level 3, students will learn 16 new phonograms and practice reading words that include the phonograms. They'll also practice more methods for decoding multisyllable words, reading words with prefixes and suffixes, syllable division and more concepts. Using more advanced texts, they'll also continue to practice comprehension skills like comparing/contrasting main characters, skimming for information, making predictions, and more. Vocabulary will focus on understanding homophones, synonyms, antonyms, and more. Students will learn to identify literary devices.

In Level 4, students will learn the final 15 phonograms and practice reading words that include the phonograms. They'll also practice decoding multisyllable words, reading words with new suffixes and with multiple suffixes, and reading words with unaccented syllables and silent letters. Using more advanced texts, they'll also continue to practice comprehension skills like comparing/contrasting main characters, skimming for information, discussing conflict and character transformation, making predictions and inferences, and more. Vocabulary will focus on understanding homonyms, heteronyms, synonyms, antonyms, and more. Students will explore figurative language concepts and words influenced by Greek, French, Spanish, and Italian.

In Level 1, students will learn to identify the first and last sounds in words, techniques for syllable counting and segmenting words, along with the alphabet phonograms and six of the most common two-letter phonograms. Covered encoding skills include spelling short vowel words using learned phonograms, spelling “Floss” words, words with the most common initial and final blends, plurals using “s” and “es”, and simple compound words. Please note that this Color Edition is not compatible with black & white Teacher Editions or materials.

Throughout Level 2, students will learn 11 new phonograms including several vowel teams. They will also learn how to spell several different types of words such as words with beginning and end blends, words containing soft C or G, words that end in the /v/ and /u/ sounds, VCE words, and many more. Students will practice identifying open and closed syllables, how to divide multisyllable words to make spelling easier, and they will be introduced to R-controlled syllables. Please note that this Color Edition is not compatible with black & white Teacher Editions or materials.

In Level 3, students will learn 10 new phonograms and the jobs of Silent E. They will learn how to spell C+le syllables, contractions, homophones, words with consonant and vowel suffixes, words with the ending sound /e/ spelled with the letter y, and more. They will also practice analyzing ways to spell long vowel sounds and learn more about the past tense. Please note that the Color Edition is not compatible with black & white Teacher Editions or materials.

In Level 4, students will learn 12 new phonograms, how to categorize and spell the four sounds of the letter Y, how to spell the five sounds of /er/ and common abbreviations, and strategies for spelling /j/ and /ch/. Other concepts taught include spelling words with the syllable /shun/ spelled "tion," words with the fourth sound of O, and words with unaccented A, and a lot more! Please note that the Color Edition is not compatible with black & white Teacher Editions or materials.

In Level 5, students will learn 12 new phonograms, "I-before-E generalizations, how to add two suffixes to a word, how to form irregular plurals, and five ways to spell the sound of long E. They will also learn to spell words with the sound /shun/ using SION, more Silent E words, words with OR and AR in unaccented syllables, more ways to spell plurals, and much more!

In Level 6 students learn three new phonograms, exceptions to the I-before-E generalization, adding suffixes to C+le words, and additional suffixes like AIN, TURE, and IVE. In addition, they'll learn how to spell words with challenging ending choices like CLE or CAL; IL, EL, AL, or LE; US or OUS; and IBLE or ABLE.

In Level 7, students finish up their All About Spelling studies with challenging and essential concepts such as when to keep or drop Silent E when adding a suffix, clues for learning when to use the suffix ANCE or ENCE, and more strategies for spelling unfamiliar words. They'll practice spelling words with Latin and Greek roots or parts, loan words from French, Spanish, and Italian, and more.
