Pre-Primer III is part of the Pecci Reading Series.

This series was designed to help children avoid difficulties that often occur when they memorize whole words by sight, when transitioning from easily decodable words to "real English" words that can't be "sounded out," and when attempting to determine what is a sight word and what needs to be decoded. In the Pecci readers, every word is introduced with phonics, while the use of "real English" provides a context in which to help develop comprehension. In addition, each new word is repeated a minimum of fifteen times to help build familiarity and fluency; some words are replaced by illustrations for easy reading. Engaging stories are centered on activities children can relate to, and are based on a "short story" formula of a situation, anticlimax with an unexpected turn of events, and a surprise ending.

Twenty-five words are introduced. The back of each book includes an easy-to-use scripted dialogue for parents to use for introducing each new word phonetically. 64 pages, softcover.

Readers are correlated to the "At Last! A Reading Method for EVERY Child" curriculum, but can be used to supplement any program. Preschool-Kindergarten.

Super Spelling was written to bridge the gap between weekly spelling lists and real-life writing. Centered on high-frequency words, the sequence is designed to include the necessary parts of speech (nouns, verbs, etc.) from which intelligible sentences can be composed. Using these same spelling words, students learn how to write the basic sentence types (declarative, interrogative, exclamatory, and imperative) as parents dictate the sentences from the book.

Based on the same "teach only the reliable phonics facts" principle espoused in the "At Last! A Reading Method for EVERY Child" curriculum, students are taught to analyze each word; each list contains just one study word that can't be sounded-out. Children sound out and write out one row of each spelling word each day. The included independent assignments are comprised of only the spelling words that have been introduced; exercises include sentence -completions, punctuation exercises, unscrambling activities, and more. The entire book is written to the teacher with helpful advice, explanations of pedagogy, and scripted instructions provided; assignments must all be completed on separate pieces of paper. 242 pages, softcover. Grade 1. 2nd Edition.
