Simply Classical Curriculum: Level Two - Comprehension, Calculations & Character is part of the Memoria Press special-needs classical readiness program. Please note that the levels for this program are: Level A (Ages 2-3), Level B (Ages 3-4), Level C (Ages 4-5), Level 1 (Ages 5-6), Level 2 (Ages 6-8). The age ranges refer to either chronological age or skill level.

This lesson plan guide contains only the lesson plans to use with the full set of books recommended for the Memoria Press Simply Classical Level 2 course. It cannot be used independently. The lesson plans are broken up into individual tasks for each subject for each day. For example, on Monday of Week 1, assignments are given for the subjects/periods: opening & recitation, phonics & spelling, arithmetic, reading & writing, extended lit (optional), Bible/copywork, cursive, Wonder/Beauty/Imagination (literature, science, history, geography, world, art and music), and an organiz ation/closing prayer. Each task has a checkbox to easily keep track of which assignments were completed.

A pre-test assessment is provided along with a rubric for parents to assess skills to be developed during the program.

Please note that this is a lesson plan book that helps parents plan and assign a group of resources (not included and sold-separately); it does not contain the teaching content itself.

Gently-paced, Simply Classical Level 2 encourages students to grow steadily in reading comprehension, arithmetic, and the cultivation of character. With intensive phonics, students will hone skills for reading and spelling. They will also receive practice with reading fluency through carefully selected stories. Features of this level include:

Simply Classical Curriculum: Level Two - Extended Literature is part of the Memoria Press special-needs classical readiness "Simply Classical" program. Please note that the levels for this program are: Level A (Ages 2-3), Level B (Ages 3-4), Level C (Ages 4-5), Level 1 (Ages 5-6), Level 2 (Ages 6-8). The age ranges refer to either chronological age or skill level.

This set of lesson plans is taken from the full Simply Classical Level Two Curriculum Manual (sold-separately), which contains a full-year of lesson plans that include multiple subjects, including these extended literature lesson plans. Please be aware that the teacher notes at the beginning of this guide recommend parents develop comprehension exercises using "Calvin the Comprehension Caterpillar" and/or "Question Word Pictures" "in your Appendices;" this note refers to resources in the appendix of the full curriculum manual which are NOT included with this lesson plan. Note that this guide simply schedules work found in other resources that must be purchased in order to use this; the following resources are required for this lesson plan:

This set of extended literature lesson plans organizes tasks in an easy-to-follow grid-box layout. Individual boxes cover Monday-Friday for each of the 34 weeks covered by this lesson plan, with assignments and checkboxes included in the daily list. Lesson plans for an 8-week summer review (where the same books are re-read) are also included.

Simply Classical Spelling: Book Two - Step by Step Words is part of the Memoria Press special-needs classical readiness program.

The spelling series gives struggling writers an incremental, multi-sensory approach with an oral/aural emphasis. Each week includes targeted Word Study exercises to promote linguistic awareness, cognitive flexibility, and improved spelling skills through writing words, seeing words in context, and doing a short word study. Thirty-four weeks of instruction are included, including standard spelling list weeks, review, and a mixed test at the end. 154 pages, softcover. Consumable and non-reproducible. Designed for ages 6-8 (whether chronological age or skill level).

The scripture based lessons are written in an orderly sequential language, and include copy work, grammar study, and composition practice. Students will learn how to recognize the main idea and details of a sentence, then progressing to composing their own sentences. Thirty-four weeks of instruction are included, with suggested schedule plans, from one-day to four-day schedules for beginning writers. 155 pages, softcover. Consumable and non-reproducible. Designed for ages 8-11 (whether chronological age or skill level).

Students will learn how to recognize the main idea and details of a sentence, then progressing to composing their own sentences.
