English Grammar Recitation features the approximately 150 grammar facts taught in the "English Grammar Recitation" program. Consistent with the trivium stages of learning, this grammar-level curriculum emphasizes the memorization of facts as the first necessary preparation for logic-level skills of diagramming and analysis. Catechism-like recitations of questions/answers/examples cover sentences, parts of speech, verbs, questions, pronouns, adverbs, conjunctions, phrases, verbals, nouns, clauses, and subordinate clauses; capitalization & punctuation style sheets are also included. Entries are divided into five sections that correspond with matching workbooks (sold-separately) that provide the exercises. 48 pages, softcover. Grades 3 & up.

The "English Grammar Recitation" program is designed to be consistent with the trivium stages of learning; this grammar-level curriculum emphasizes the memorization of facts as the first necessary preparation for logic-level skills of diagramming and analysis.

This workbook provides the exercises for the catechism-like recitations of questions, answers, and examples found in the "English Grammar Recitation" book (sold-separately). Book 1 covers sentences and parts of speech, the latter of which specifically covers nouns, pronouns, adjectives & adverbs, and verbs. Students memorize the terminology and definitions of analytical grammar in the same way that they memorize forms in Latin; students will master and be able to recite 31 grammar rules, 10 capitalization rules, and 15 punctuation rules.

Brief exercises, including copywork, dictation, editing, and diagramming, do accompany these grammar questions; however, the mastery of the English grammar catechism is the primary goal of this course, not its application. Capitalization and punctuation is also covered through recitation.

Closely following Latin grammar, this series corresponds loosely to the five levels of Memoria Press Latin; Book 1 corresponds with Latina Christiana. Designed to work in a classical educational structure, this course was designed to take less time than a typical English grammar course in order to leave more time for composition and Latin.
