The Bible teaches that God made all things by His will . . . or put another way, he made things "because He liked it" and it pleased Him to do so. Animals are incredibly unique and reflect amazing creativity-one could easily wonder why they function as they do! So why did He make animals that way? Because He Liked It!

  • There's a lizard in New Zealand that has to incubate eggs for up to a year and two months. Why did God do that? Because He liked it!
  • Cats walk mainly on their toes. Why did God do that? Because He liked it!
  • The Tasmanian Devil is small, but incredibly strong, and has the 3rd most powerful bite in the animal kingdom. Why did God do that? Because He liked it!

Each trivia fact includes the same refrain along with an amusing cartoon. 103 pages, softcover.

Cat and Dog Theology Year 1 (Grades 7-12)

Cat and Dog Theology: Year 1 provides homeschoolers with a complete, full-color Bible curriculum that will challenge students in grades 7-12 to live passionately for the glory of God and see the differences between a people-centered and a God-centered theology.

The student workbook is designed to be used with the other program components. Designed to over 30 weeks with three (30-45 minute) lessons per week, this kit is structured so that on the first two lessons, students read assigned pages, answer reading questions, and do a short Bible study; on day 3 they review a cartoon, read a "teenage story," answer questions (over 1500 full-in-the-blank and 300 quiz questions), take a quiz, and reflect on application. Weekly bonus lessons and a final exam are also included. Concepts and questions are repeated occasionally for repetition and review.

The answer key includes answers for the fill-in-the-blank questions, quizzes, and final exam. This key has an unusual structure; in the student workbook, each question has a footnote number next to it. These numbers rise with each question, without regard to lesson or page. This answer key is keyed to those footnote numbers, and thus is not organized with lesson, problem, or page number, but rather by line-listed footnotes.

Cat and Dog Theology teaches students about the central illustration used in this curriculum (cats as people-centered, and dogs as God-centered). It helps them see the short-sightedness of focusing on life on earth, and instead nudges them towards most glorifying God by delighting in Him.

Cat and Dog Prayer will help move students from self-centered prayers to God-focused prayers. Honing in on the common prayer of petition, which the authors argue is seldom answered in the dramatic ways the petitioner desires, readers are directed to examine the motives behind their prayers. A study of the Lord's Prayer and discussion of praying with the intention to "glorify God to make our joy full" will help challenge the way students pray.

The YouTeach CD is a simplified version of "Cat and Dog Theology" and contains over 250 ready-to-use Microsoft PowerPoint slides plus notes (both in .pdf format) that will help you teach the material! Three lectures are included: Getting Outside the Box, Self-Centered in the Church, and Distortions in Cat Theology. The God given traits of cats (You exist to serve me) and dogs (I exist to serve You) are often similar to certain theological attitudes held by many Christians in their view of God and their relationship to Him. Each week includes 3 lessons designed to take 45-60 minutes each. On Days 1 and 2, students read assigned pages and answer questions on the worksheets. On Day 3, they read the "Chris and Sarah" story and answer four questions, take a quiz, and write down how the lesson applies to their life. A final exam is provided for end-of-year assessment. At the middle and end of the course, students will be asked to teach lessons themselves to help solidify their understanding. NOTE: This kit ONLY contains a digital workbook on CD.
