Art History for Grades K-3

This new ARTistic Pursuits curriculum is designed to activate thought and creativity in every lesson! Each hardcover text takes your child on a journey through the history of art, one era at a time, with child-friendly stories of a culture or master artist. Full-color renditions of master works gives your youngster a chance to ponder, explore, and discuss. Begin with Level 1, then levels can be completed in any order. Each semester-long course contains six 7-minute video lessons and 12 additional lessons in the textbook to help your young student really see how art materials are used - giving parents and children the knowledge to handle art materials properly. Simply watch the video together, provide the art materials, and watch as your child creates an original work of art. A list and reference photo of (not included) required art materials, including brand names, provide guidance on the supplies your young artist will need. Art Core for Grades 4 - 12

ARTistic Pursuits new Art Core program give students the opportunity to create projects that help them understand the Big Ideas of art. Each level consists of 36 lessons: 9 video lessons and 27 lessons in the textbook. Video lessons model art materials and techniques and how to use them. The hardcover textbooks take your student on a journey through the history of art, focusing on artists who are masters of the technique or medium that is the focus of each level . A guide for parents of preschoolers who want to nurture artistic creativity and talent in their children, The Way They See It starts at the very beginning---with seeing. Section One focuses on developing artistic curiosity and provides ideas for making children aware of the world in which they live through real word examples, art, and more. Section Two spotlights the "First Skills" of scissors; using pencil, crayon, and marker; adhesives; and brushes and paint, with the intention to help students with decision-making skills, communication skills, and motor skills. Plenty of hands-on activities are included along with parental notes on child development. The "Early Elementary" series of books introduces children to the visual arts and art history through colorful illustrations and fun art projects. When all three books in the series have been completed, students will have received a chronological introduction to art from cave drawings through the 1960s. Early Elementary K-3 Book 1: An Introduction to the Visual Arts focuses on what artists do (basics, types of art, art materials), what artists see (shape, form, line, color), and where we find art (caves, pyramids, cathedrals).

Middle School Book 1 focuses on the elements of art (space, line, form) and composition (proportion, depth, rhythm).

The High School Grades 9-12 series of books provides an in-depth look at the elements of art and composition through a comprehensive text. High School Book 1 focuses on the elements of art, including space, line, value, proportion, and texture by giving students projects centered on drawings and paintings that use graded pencils, charcoal, and different types of brushes .

Sculpture Technique

Sculpture Technique: CONSTRUCT from Artistic Pursuits offers upper-elementary to high school students the opportunity to discover their skill in sculpting! Students will learn about 3-D construction through methods such as papermaking, papier-mbchi, cardboard and wire. More than a simple craft book, the assignments focus on the processes of working with specific materials while introducing the elements of sculpture in ways students can put into practice immediately. Students create original sculptures while selecting subject matter that is interesting and relevant to their own lives.

Unit Evaluation: Students reflect on their ac complishments as they complete an evaluation page. They examine how the element of sculpture was used in their completed works , reflect on technical issues, and consider the subject of fine arts as it relates to their completed projects within the unit. Answers are provided at the back of the book. This evaluation together with the completed sculptures provides a number grade for each unit.

Students create original sculptures while selecting subject matter that is interesting and relevant to their own lives.

Unit Evaluation: Students complete an evaluation page to reflect on the element of sculpture, technical issues, and the subject of fine art as it relates to their completed projects within the unit. Answers are provided at the back of the book. This evaluation together with the completed sculptures provides a letter grade for each unit.
