Emphasizing a Christian view of history, the contributions of ancient cultures to historiography, and the relationship between history and geography, students will gain an introduction to anthropology and sociology. Students will learn how environment directly affects a group's culture; how Western political thought directly influenced the Declaration of Independence; how to define important political and economic terms; and describe the political structure of the Federal and state governments.
The position of the individual citizen in today's society is examined alongside a review of America's historical background, the formation of her government, and the major changes that have occurred in the nation, reflecting the citizen's privileges and responsibilities to make contributions to the betterment of the world.

Four instructional units. This course was designed to help students gain the skills needed to pass the GED exam; it may also be useful as a review for students who have interrupted their education between high school and college; or for those interested in improving their basic skills before entering credit classes.
