Brennan Manning

Author, speaker, and contemplative Richard Francis Xavier Manning, better known to his readers as Brennan Manning, completed his earthly journey on Friday, April 12, 2013.

Brennan studied at St. John's University, the University of Missouri, Columbia University, and Saint Francis Catholic Seminary, to be ordained a Franciscan priest in 1963. He later taught theology at the University of Stuebenville in Ohio, and served as spiritual director of St. Francis Seminary in Pennsylvania. Then, veering off the seemingly charted course of his life, he fell into the mire of alcoholism. After six months of treatment, he was on the road to recovery.

Out of his personal pain and turmoil came a powerful ministry that testifies to God's boundless grace and mercy. When he wasn't speaking at Christian colleges across the country or directing spiritual retreats, Brennan was working with the poor, and writing. Of his works, The Ragamuffin Gospel: Embracing the Unconditional Love of God is perhaps the most highly regarded. All Is Grace: A Ragamuffin Memoir was his last published work. Join us in celebrating the memory of this highly revered disciple, as we can continue to learn from his teachings.

Experience Rich Mullins's Legacy of Joy and Real Compassion

Beloved contemporary Christian musician Rich Mullins lived his life with abandon for God, leaving the spotlight to teach music among a Navajo community. An accident cut his life short in 1997, but his songs and ragamuffin spirit continue to teach many.

In honor of the twenty-fifth anniversary of Rich's homegoing, this edition of Rich Mullins: An Arrow Pointing to Heaven delivers an intimate look at the experiences that sparked praise hits and the values behind his Christ-like candor. James Bryan Smith captures just what Rich wished for when he said, "I hope I would leave a legacy of joy—a legacy of real compassion."

See the layers of his story through reflections from friends and family, an afterword by Rich's brother David Mullins, and Smith's own bond with him. And in remembrance, be inspired to enjoy God's world as Rich did.
