Ligonier National Conference 2024

R. C. Sproul (PhD, Whitefield Theological Seminary) was the founder and chairman of Ligonier Ministries and could be heard daily on the Renewing Your Mind radio broadcast in the United States and internationally. He was the first minister of preaching and teaching at Saint Andrew’s Chapel (Sanford, FL), the first president of Reformation Bible College, and executive editor of Tabletalk magazine. He was recognized throughout the world for his articulate defense of the inerrancy of Scripture and the need for God’s people to stand with conviction upon His Word. He was one of the chief architects of the Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy. Dr. Sproul was known for his sense of humor, and for his ability to make deep scriptural and theological truths accessible for the average person in the pews. Sproul passed from this life into eternity with his Lord in December of 2017.

Sinclair Ferguson (PhD, University of Aberdeen), a native of Scotland, is Chancellor’s Professor of Systematic Theology at Reformed Theological Seminary and Distinguished Visiting Professor of Systematic Theology at Westminster Theological Seminary.

Steven J. Lawson (DMin, Reformed Theological Seminary) is the founder of OnePassion Ministries and the executive editor of its Expository Magazine, and also serves as the lead preacher at Trinity Bible Church of Dallas. Dr. Lawson hosts The Institute for Expository Preaching in cities around the world, serves as a board member and teaching fellow for Ligonier Ministries, and is Professor of Preaching at The Master’s Seminary, where he oversees the DMin program and serves on the board.

Derek W. H. Thomas (PhD, University of Wales) is a Ligonier Ministries teaching fellow and Chancellor’s Professor of Systematic and Pastoral Theology at Reformed Theological Seminary. He is featured teacher for the Ligonier teaching series Romans 8. He also serves as Senior Minister at First Presbyterian Church (ARP) in Columbia, South Carolina.

W. Robert Godfrey (PhD, Stanford University) is a Ligonier Ministries teaching fellow and chairman of Ligonier Ministries. He is president emeritus and professor emeritus of church history at Westminster Seminary California. He is the featured teacher for many Ligonier teaching series, including the six-part series A Survey of Church History.

Michael Reeves (PhD, King's College) is president and professor of theology at Union School of Theology in the United Kingdom. Reeves oversees the work of Union, and teaches in the areas of systematic and historical theology and also on preaching and spiritual formation. He is a local church minister, Director of the European Theologians Network, and speaks and teaches regularly worldwide. He is the featured teacher for the Ligonier teaching series The English Reformation and the Puritans.

Joel Beeke (PhD, Westminster Theological Seminary) is a pastor of the Heritage Reformed Congregation in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He serves as chancellor and professor of homiletics and systematic theology at Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary. Under the oversight of the Heritage Reformed Congregations, Beeke helped found Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary in 1995, where he served as president until he assumed the chancellorship in 2023.

Carl R. Trueman (PhD, University of Aberdeen) is professor of biblical and religious studies at Grove City College. He teaches and writes on the rise and impact of modern notions of selfhood on contemporary culture as well as the nature of doctrinal development in the Christian church. He is the author of the bestselling book Strange New World: How Thinkers and Activists Redefined Identity and Sparked the Sexual Revolution.

Michael J. Kruger (PhD, University of Edinburgh) is president and the Samuel C. Patterson Professor of New Testament and Early Christianity at Reformed Theological Seminary in Charlotte, North Carolina. He is ordained in the Evangelical Presbyterian Church. He specializes in canon studies, having written numerous books on how the Bible as we know it today came to be. Some of his works include The Question of Canon, Canon Revisited, and Surviving Religion 101.

Voddie Baucham (DMin, Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary) was the founding Dean of African Christian University in Lusaka, Zambia, where he serves as a Senior Lecturer in the School of Divinity. His book Fault Lines, which exposes the insidious worldview behind the social justice movement and Critical Race Theory, is a USA Today Bestseller.

Keith A. Mathison (PhD, Whitefield Theological Seminary) is professor of systematic theology at Reformation Bible College. He served as an associate editor of the Reformation Study Bible and previously served as associate editor of Tabletalk magazine. He has published a handful of books on topics such as eschatology, sola scriptura, and the Lord’s Supper.

T. Desmond Alexander (PhD, The Queen’s University of Belfast) is senior lecturer in biblical studies and director of postgraduate studies at Union Theological College in Belfast. Alexander is the chairman of the Tyndale Fellowship for Biblical and Theological Research, served as coeditor of The New Dictionary of Biblical Theology, and has written many volumes in the area of biblical theology.
