In a day when hyper partisanship and polarization reigns, "Cold Civil War:" is a timely and thoughtful read. The book is around 300 pages, written by an author who previously served as a college president and founding pastor, and covers many topics, including:

- The need for hard thinking to counteract our country's ruling elite who often think and act in their own interests.

- The failure of evangelicals to think and act out a sound political philosophy (yes, our problems are ultimately spiritual, but when Christians have a "bunker mentality" and refuse to be engaged in the world, we make things worse.).

- Having a vital political center where both sides of the political aisle can work together on sound solutions.

- Ways big business has partnered with politics to increase their power to the detriment of the middle class.

- Ways a cold civil war was started and continued in the US.

- How critical race theory divides the races.

- How the bipartisan ruling class increases its power by using the middle class.

- The importance of revival in the Christian church.

Many things to like about this title:

- Lacks the name-calling seen in books written by both the political and religious left and right.

- Thoughtfully written and respectful towards various political persuasions, regardless of the author's own politics.

- Very thought-provoking.

- Smoothly transitions from chapter to chapter (not a choppy read that bounces back and forth and confuses the reader).

- Helps the reader better understand the views of various political viewpoints of the left and right.
