Wow...when I sat down to read this book, I thought I would buzz through a few chapters to get the feel of it. To my delight I have gobbled up every word, breathed deeply at every question, and paused to take in God's goodness. This book is phenomenal and I cannot wait to take the ladies in my ministry through it.”
Lisa Pacheco, women's ministry director, Calvary Chapel, Oceanside, California
When a Woman Overcomes Life's Hurts ministered to me from the very first page. As a woman who has been a leader of a women's ministry for over five years, I thought I was only reading for the women in my ministry. The fact of the matter is this book ministered to me in so many areas of my own life. I know without a shadow of a doubt that every woman who reads it will be blessed. Through these pages, I am truly inspired that my biggest storm will end up becoming my greatest victory!
Terri Smalls, Powerful Praying Women Ministry, Charlotte, North Carolina
I love, love, love this book! I can't wait to share it with the many women at our church that need to read this! Thank you Cindi, for once again giving us a resource to help us heal!”
Deb Sagisser, Women's Ministry Director, Hope Church, Oakdale, Minnesota
Cindi McMenamin has written an important work. There are too many women who miss the victory Christ offers through His healing love. Cindi’s book gives direction, hope, and practical advice. I plan to use this text in my ministry.”

But the damage resulting from those hurts is rarely simple. A hurt can cause ripple effects that resonate through every area of our lives - in ways we don't even recognize. We may also believe certain lies that keep us chained to the wound and far from healing. We may even believe the greatest lie of all - that healing is just not possible.
The truth is, though, that healing *is* possible. And whether your wound is old or fresh, large or small, Cindi's book will help you find it. She takes you the 3-step process of Uncovering the Wounds, Unraveling the Lies, and Unveiling a New Heart.
This book is honest - but encouraging. It is real - but uplifting. And it is Biblical - but practical.
No matter your wound, and no matter your age, "When A Woman Overcomes Life's Hurts" will - really, truly - help you find healing.

Each time I read a new story about one of the women in this book, I couldn't help but think about how great our God is and how deep His love goes to rescue us and redeem us as His own. God gives all of us a story of His greatness in our lives....and we are called to Glorify Him in ALL things. Each life broken and torn can be transformed for the Glory of His Great Name! That's what I bring away from this wonderful and true compilation. This is an encouraging book for anyone who has suffered loss, dissapointment, trauma or struggles......and we all have.
I love the "self assessment: Are You Still Affected by Your Wounds" ....because most people would say ..no, I don't carry any baggage or hurts from my life events. But it is so true that we do carry hurts, and don't even know it. To experience true peace, we must go deeper and get to the heart of the matters in our life. If we are more "reactional" than relational then it's time to assess what's wrong. Thank you Cindi McMenamin for writing this book with divine instructions from God.
There are foundational scriptures throughout this book with deeper study moments and steps of encouragement at the end of each chapter concluding with a prayer.
This is a book that offers wholenesss of life through God and His Holy Word so that we may be His vessels of hope to everyone around us!

Her desire is for women to be set free from the bondage of their pasts and to know their identity in Christ.
Each chapter begins with a woman's tragic story and their redemption.
At the end of each chapter, there is a section entitled, "Let the Healing Continue" where there are practical exercises help to incorporate healing. There are also scriptures to reflect upon and a prayer for healing.
When a Woman Overcomes Life's Hurts is broken down in three sections:
Part I: Uncovering the Wounds
Part II: Unraveling the Lies
Part III: Unveiling a New Heart
As much as I found this book encouraging, I did have a difficult time reading some of the women's stories.
However, I appreciated the fact that there is hope and redemption as well. Who doesn't like a happy ending?
When a Woman Overcomes Life's Hurt is very helpful as it gives you ten steps toward healing and wholeness.
Cindi McMenamin teaches throughout this book, that there is healing, hope and redemption through the pain and hurt. Sometimes we may not understand why certain things happen, however, this book clearly shows how God wastes nothing.
I highly recommend When a Woman Overcomes Life's Hurt for women. This book could used alone or as a guide in a woman's group.
In conclusion, I want to personally thank Aaron Dillon of Harvest House Publishers for a complimentary copy of this book.

This book is the first book of Cindi McMenamin that I have read and I guarantee you, it will not be the last one either. Cindi is very good author telling her stories about several different women.
She explains what the women go through and how God is there to help them. There are some that question God's existence and I know beyond a shadow of a doubt he is there for you in time of trouble. Our God is an AWESOME God. I love you Jesus. Cindi is a great author on this type of subject. I was just thinking after I read her book that some churches could use this book for women who are hurting at church. Just a thought. Hmmmm.
I work with some women who are going through some rough things, such as divorce, contemplating divorce, etc. I do believe I am going to pass this book along to them.
Thank you Harvest House Publishers for giving me a chance to read and review this WONDERFUL book. Thank you, Cindi McMenamin for giving us all a good book to read and learn how Jesus moves. I just have to say this one thing, "Jesus does not move, we do". Just a thought.
IreneUnited States5 Stars Out Of 5A great read for any womanAugust 3, 2012IreneUnited StatesQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Do you have something in your past that you can not forgive yourself for? Do you have feelings of inadequacy because of how you were spoken to as a child? What about working real hard just so you can hear job well done from your boss? Do any of these relate to you and how you feel about yourself? There can be healing from all of these and any situation holding you back from living a joyful life in Christ. The author of this book shows that no matter what, if we look to the Lord he will lead us to a fulfilled life.
I liked how open this author was in expressing her personal experiences. I also liked how she points the reader to the Lord for the solution to the problems touched on in this book. The subtitle of the book is "Discovering the Healing and Wholeness God Has For You." What an excellent way to describe what this book is all about. This is very easy to read and the authors' loving writing style makes it a perfect non-judgmental book to lead you out of a non-fulfilled life into the life the Lord wants for you!
I gave this book 5/5 stars because I think all women will learn something in this book that will change their lives for the better.
I would like to thank NetGalley and the publisher for the copy of this book I enjoyed reading. I gave an honest review based on my opinion of what I read.

Tell us a little about yourself. I have been ministering to women for more than 20 years as a pastor's wife, mother, national speaker and author of eleven books. It is my passion to help women find strength for the soul through deeper intimacy with Christ.
What was your motivation behind this project? For years I've seen two kinds of women: Those who are stuck from unresolved hurts in their lives; and those who surrender those hurts to God, grow through them and find their purpose from their pain. I want to help all women move beyond that place where they are stuck and focused on self and into a place of fulfillment and joy, where they are serving others.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? By reading this book, and working through the thought questions at the end of each chapter, my hope is that women will gain a greater understanding of their purpose in life, experience improved relationships with others, and become women who invest in the lives of others by meeting them in the place where they once were wounded, themselves.
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? First of all, I realized the pain in my life really pales in comparison to what some women have experienced. And I learned that as devastating as some women's stories are, their deliverance and God's transformation of their lives in spite of that pain is truly remarkable. I also realized there were hurts in my own life that I was still being affected by because I hadn't yet surrendered them to God. I took the 'self assessment test in the back of the book and realized God needed to work on me as I wrote it...what He showed me, I showed others through what I wrote.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? I grew up on the writings of Elisabeth Elliot, Cynthia Heald, Lee Ezell. Today, my author/friends Elizabeth George, Elyse Fitzpatrick, Tricia McCary Rhodes continue to influence me through their writings. I have also been greatly influenced by the works of Henry Blackaby, John Ortberg, Robert Jeffress, and Francis Chan. I was so impacted recently by Paul E. Miller's "A Praying Life."
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: I write what God and a number of spiritual mentors teach me. Prayerfully, I will never stop writing because I will never stop learning.
