Brandlyn Collins is one of my favorite authors. I have heard of Lyme disease but did not know to what extent it could affect a person's health. It is based on true facts concerning the Lyme wars and medical debates on the treatment of this disease and from the authors own experience in having had Lyme disease.
The story starts out with a horrible and riveting situation of a person being intentionally injected with ticks that cause Lyme and also contained other disease's which make her suffering worse. It is hard to imagine in this day and time of medical breakthroughs that people with Lyme disease are suffering so much.
During the night a disturbed man slips into Janessa McNeil's home while she is sleeping and injects her with Lyme ticks. She soon becomes very sick but her husband Dr. Brock McNeil who researches tick born diseases does not believe that Chronic Lyme Disease exists. He thinks his wife is faking her physical problems. But why would she be faking? Who injected her and for what purpose?
An amazing and incredulous story. Even though it is fictional the suffering and the lack of proper medical diagnoses and treatment is real. This story captures you from the beginning but in part is hard to read due to the horrors of Lyme Disease and Janessa's suffering. A story of faith, betrayal, suffering, suspense, a mysterious madman, twists and turns and enlightening. If you are a fan of Brandilyn you won't want to miss this book. If not you will be her fan after reading it.
