This is a gorgeously printed book with a good instruction on art appreciation. However, I was highly disappointed that the book brushes over much of the pre-medieval/non-western arts and places almost 1/3 of the book on modern art from the 20th century. The authors obviously has less appreciation for non-western arts. If the book description mentions this imbalance, I wouldn't buy this book at all.

I am surprised that this book is recommended by the Veritas Press, (which was the reason I bought the book,) because the Veritas curriculums focus much of the elementary years in ancient times, while this book spent only a few pages on the topic.
