All over the country, people are waking up from the American Dream. More than a house, a car, and 2.5 kids, what people truly yearn for is a life of possibility, potential, and adventure. We believe God is able to do more than we hope or imagine, but we're stuck living in the tension between our ordinary life and the extraordinary adventures that might be just around the corner.

Entertaining, engaging, and often unconventional, Outrageous challenges us to wake up and embrace a faith that can move us, shape us, and propel us to love God and others with greater significance. Each chapter unfolds a new true-life adventure fueled by faith and the extraordinary life Jesus promised to those who believe.

Outrageous by Aaron Tredway is a book about living more than the American dream. Aaron Tredway shows us that God wants to do so much more in our lives than we ever imagined. This book is full of true stories of how God can use us in often unconventional ways. The stories are very entertaining and often humorous. This book was very inspiring to me. It is written in a very easy to read format. I would highly recommend this book to anyone that is wanting more out of life and is tired of just living the American Dream.

I received this book from Baker Books for my honest opinion.

I chose to review this book as part of the Baker Books Bloggers reviewer program, because I loved the idea of a Christian Living book that calls Christians to live big, to enjoy our own lives to the fullest and in doing so, shine a light that draws people in for God.

Maybe I have a different idea of "calling" than the publishers do. I didn't find this book "calling" or "inspiring" at all. Mostly, I wondered when it would end.

Outrageous may as well be called "a random collection of things that have randomly happened to me which may be loosely associated with my faith". It's not a bad book, it's just...random. I often equate books to a personal interaction with the author - this guy is the dude at the grocery store who I'm trying to be polite to as he leans on my car and tells me story after story with no apparent point or end in sight.

Good points: chapters are short, and the author always ends on the same point, stating in some way or another that he wants to live outrageously. If you've got the time to spend on it, it's entertaining. And though the connection to his "live outrageously" point sometimes seems forced, he does always circle back there.

Bad points: I never did figure out why I should care about the author or his stories. Who is he? What value is he adding with this book? When 99% of the population will never have the experiences he does, how can anyone walk away from this disjointed collection of stories with any actual clue about how to live their own lives in this so called outrageous way? And if 99% of the population will never have the experiences the author has, the what place for the author have to say that these experiences are what God wants for all Christians?

Overall, I have a feeling of "cool story, bro" with a touch of irritation. I feel like I've wasted my time waiting for a point that was made on page one.
