For all you "pantsers," don't disregard Outlining your Novel.

I am a now reformed panster, who is fully satisfied with the purchase. In fact, I think writers who don't ordinarily outline would benefit the most from this book. K.M. Weiland packs lots of questions, methods and tips to jumpstart your brainstorming. It is a road map so you don't have to wander aimlessly on Overwhelmed Island. Yeah, I've been there, but not anymore.

From character interviews to theme, this book probes you to dig deep into the many facets of your story. The best part? It doesn't stifle creativity by following rigid rules, (goodbye Roman numerals, hello freedom!) but rather explores different possibilities and approaches for your WIP's storyline. You can do all this without investing a bunch of time banging out a first draft, only to realize the whole thing is a big, fat mess.

With that said, I don't think this book is for everyone. If you're already an outliner or more advanced writer, more than likely you've established your own techniques for brainstorming. This book wouldn't offer much new advice.

However, if you're a beginner to intermediate level writer, or curious to see what's so great about plotting, (I'm talking to you, pantser), I highly recommend you invest in Outlining your Novel.
