Natalie was in her early eighties and as sharp as a tack, but after some questionable activities around her estate, a few people were wondering if maybe she was losing her edge just slightly. One in particular tried to convince her that she was getting forgetful, but that was wishful thinking on his part. The hero and heroine were so great together with a certain undercurrent of attraction almost from the start. I loved the action, suspense, mystery, and romance. The setting sounded like a beautiful place to live if not for everything that was going on both day and night. The translation of the old journals was intriguing, adding another layer of suspense to the story.

Wow! What an exciting ending to a fabulous series! Old journals, a decades old mystery, hidden treasure, & a sweet instant attraction romance made Out of Time one thrilling romantic suspense. Irene Hannon has such a brilliant way of creating characters you really become invested in. Over the course of the Undaunted Courage series, three adult foster children overcome their pasts, solve intriguing mysteries, & find love. This is Cara*s story & I loved learning more about her.

Cara Tucker*s an assistant historical anthropology professor who*s looking forward to spending several months on sabbatical at an isolated estate. She*s trying to preserve a dying language by translating old journals owned by Natalie Boyer. When Cara arrives, odd things begin happening. Though Natalie*s 83, she*s in perfect health, until she begins having unexplained dizzy spells & a series of accidents. When a man is found dead on the property, it*s clear someone doesn*t want the journals* secrets revealed. But, Cara*s determined to finish the project & with the help of a handsome Sheriff, she hopes they can find whoever is threatening them before it*s too late.

I absolutely loved this story! Cara*s such an inspirational character. She*s one of the lucky foster children who found a loving family & is still close to her adopted siblings. She has cochlear implants which sometimes make communication a challenge as well as a troubled past that makes her leery of relationships. But, her instant attraction to the handsome Sheriff Brad Mitchell is undeniable. He has his own tragic past which made him vow never to marry again, until he meets Cara. He also feels that instant attraction & every time they*re together there*s an irresistible pull. I loved how Cara was very forthright about her feelings. Natalie*s such a delightful side character who*s overcome quite a lot herself. I enjoyed the lovely dynamic between her & Cara.

The mystery definitely kept me guessing until the end. There are multiple suspects with different motivations & I enjoyed having their POVs. The thrilling ending had me on the edge of my seat!

Highly recommend to inspirational romantic suspense fans! I received an advanced copy from the publisher with no expectation of a positive review. All opinions are my own & provided voluntarily. 4.5-5 stars!

Cara Tucker is a historical anthropologist, with a passion for dead languages, she gladly accepts an invitation to spend some time on an acquaintances' country estate to unravel the secrets in a long-lost relative's diary. But when strange things start happening on the estate, she and Sheriff Brad Adams work together to find out what is going on behind the scenes.

Full of intrigue, with good building suspense throughout. There is a lot going on, with great pacing and good reveal throughout. Cara and Brad make a very good, but unlikely team, with strengths that complement each other. Great interaction, good relationship building, with good levels of suspense and bonding over shared faith.

Overall, a well-done suspense, with great supporting characters, and a lot of pieces that slowly come together for a huge climatic ending. Natalie is a wonderful host, and I liked getting to know her over the course of the story. Engaging suspense. Highly unputdownable!

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

"Her dream sabbatical was not off to an auspicious start...Why was a police cruiser blocking the entrance to Natalie Boyer's secluded estate--her destination on this early September Tuesday?" (location 63). I was immediately drawn in and the action just took off right away. I liked the pacing. It was hard to put down.

This is the conclusion of the Undaunted Courage series and it's a great one. There are at least five different mystery plots that intertwine at some point which makes it fun to unravel. I liked the main characters a lot. Natalie is a kind, caring woman. Cara is strong and courageous as well as scholarly. Brad is straightforward and protective. Even the bad guys are somewhat sympathetic...most of them anyway.

Although this is the third book in the series, it could easily be read as a standalone. Thank you to Revell for providing me with a free e-copy of this book. I'd recommend it. All opinions are my own.

A dying language, a missing treasure, and murder combine to make Out of Time unputdownable!

Cara Tucker is an historical anthropologist working at a remote and ancient estate to transcribe a dying language. But when mysterious happenings turn dangerous--even deadly--she must work with Sheriff Brad Mitchell to solve the mystery before the killer strikes again.

Hannon's characters are wonderful, with a depth and dialogue not often seen. And I love how she weaves in the killer's perspective while skillfully keeping me guessing about their identity until the very end! Though this is the third book in the Undaunted Courage series, it reads fabulously as a standalone.
