From the New York Times bestselling author of Dinner with a Perfect Stranger, Open will forever change the way you think about faith.
It wasnt the end of the world. It was just the end of Emma Jamesons world. Fresh off the heels of a devastating breakup and floundering in her career, Emma is struggling to come to grips with why God allows so much pain in our lives, why He seems so absent when she needs Him most, and why the Gospel accountsour supposed guide for how to lead a contented Christian lifefeel so completely irrelevant.
Then one day, a mysterious envelope arrives in Emmas mailbox with the word Open written on the outside. Inside the envelope is a card bearing the following message: For a real adventure with Jesus, go through the nearest open door.
Skeptical, but having absolutely nothing to lose, Emma steps through the pantry door, only to find herself instantly transported back to the first century, where she is taken on a personal tour of various Gospel accounts by none other than Jesus himselfan experience that radically challenges Emmas perception of the Gospels and what it really means to be a Christian.

Diane Busch4 Stars Out Of 5Christian life is an adventure - are you ready?November 8, 2016Diane BuschQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0Emma, is a single twenty-something woman who is a bit lonely and sad following a break up from her boyfriend. She honestly shares her feelings and doubts about her spirituality and faith. She's not sure what direction to take next in her life.
Through a series of open doors, she finds herself with Jesus as he is doing his ministry on earth. She witnesses first hand some of the events that are in the Gospels and talks with Jesus about what she sees and experiences. She learns many lessons that she can apply to her own life, such as forgiveness, love, patience, surrender, obedience, and thanksgiving. Ultimately she learns that the main point is a person - Jesus. These are all lessons we can learn from as well and apply to our lives.
This book, although written for anyone, may appeal more to young women, since it is written in the first person narrative of a twenty-something female.

Simply Ausome Mom5 Stars Out Of 5OPEN for an adventure of a lifetimeOctober 20, 2016Simply Ausome MomQuality: 5Value: 4Meets Expectations: 5I absolutely LOVED Open by David Gregory. This book is short with a good story line to it. Emma Jameson who is just 29 years old had just broken up with her boyfriend and struggling with her faith on how to forgive him, finds a letter in her mail and on the back OPEN printed on it. She opened the letter to find a basic sentence instructing her to go through the nearest open door, her pantry, to go on an adventure of a lifetime with Jesus. She walked through major times in Jesus' life and learned not how but who to put her faith in to get her through her troubling times. I managed to read this in about 2 days and took away a good life lesson from it. We often try to better our life in faith but it's not enough. The true way is a lot easier as Emma learned. Just put your faith in Jesus and he will walk beside you and guide you through life's troubles. There are quite a few lessons touching on different topics like being patient, kind, and forgiving which will help to strengthen us. Emma's journey is something that would help someone who is trying to better themselves in faith that need a little boost to help them along the way. I would definitely recommend this to anyone to read.
I received this book from Tyndale House Publishers for my honest opinion on this book.
Amanda3 Stars Out Of 5An Adventure with JesusSeptember 25, 2016AmandaQuality: 5Value: 4Meets Expectations: 3This book was very unique. It almost reminded me of visiting Narnia when Emma stepped through the pantry door and ended up in the New Testament.
Through her adventures in the first century, Jesus teaches Emma lessons about how to remain in him and to be a Christian. Emma also witnesses some key events from the Bible (Jesus walking on water, Mary anointing him with oil, the last supper) and Jesus explains things along the way.
The story was interesting and a fun adventure. I was a bit disappointed in Emmas reaction to Jesusif I walked through a door and ended up in the first century, face to face with Jesus, I think I would be astounded and amazed. Emmas acceptance of the situation seemed a bit too quick and she didnt seem fazed by being in the presence of the Savior of the world. To be honest, I wasnt too fond of Emma as a character. Something about her made it hard for me to connect with her.
I loved Jesus in the book. He was how I picture him to bepatient and kind with a sense of humor. The scenes with him teaching Emma were my favorite.
Overall, the message of the story was very good. I gleaned some good information from the teachings about trust, forgiveness, and abiding in Christ. I would recommend this book to any Christian who want to go on an adventure with Jesus.
My Rating: 3 stars

Open is a fictional account of an individuals travels back in time to discover the basic truths of the Gods Word. Each instance reveals a little more and takes them a little deeper to the answer of their question and reveals the truth in what they have always believed. They see the actual events of the Bible unfold before their eyes with Jesus at the center. Jesus even guides them in between the events that they witness firsthand.
Open brings a human real-life perspective to things that happened long ago, but can be associated with the events of today and our daily walk in life. It causes the characters in the Bible to appear even more real to the reader. Open is a journey that is well worth the read. I recommend Open to all!
