I had seen this movie before, a friend had it. So I was getting a know movie. I bought it to show to my Ladies Bible Study group that meets at my home. We are studying Women of the Bible. Several of these women are unchurched and had NEVER heard this bible story. I thought it would have more impact with the movie.
Good watch and will give understanding to biblical context

I'm in my 20's and I really enjoyed this movie and use it quiet often as a background movie to play while I'm doing other things! Obviously, it's a movie so liberties are taken but this movie did help me understand some key biblical truths and contexts that I never fully understood before! For example, Haman being a descendant of King Agag from I Sam. 15 and that was a possible cause of his intense hatred of the Jews. They did a really good job in setting up that context in the beginning and it made me research to see if this really was true! I'm also a history buff so I like that they expounded on Persia and Greece's warring relationship which is also a key part of the story's context.
Also, the acting is great - I mean when you have actors like Omar Sharif (Lawrence of Arabia) and John Noble (LOTR) it's hard to go wrong.
Again, I would highly recommend it. Obviously watch it with a discerning eye knowing it's going to take liberties to expound the 10 chapter story of Esther into a 1 1/2 hour movie, but understand it can help give you a better understanding of the historical and biblical context in which Esther took place.
