I have found there are certain authors that just NEVER disappoint me and Susie May Warren is one of them. A new series, new people who capture your attention immediately and you find yourself rooting for them every step of the way, and I do mean every step - such as stepping out of safety into thin air. Bravo Susie May!! I have already preordered the second and third books in this series. Girlfriend, I am running out of room on the bookshelves. Keep on writing and I will keep on reading!

"One Last Shot" is a Christian romantic suspense. Boo pays too much attention to the negative things that people say about her on social media. She hopes that avoiding media attention will keep her emotionally safe, but she can't hide from how she feels about what happened. She's afraid that men that act like they care about her might just be using her. Oaken has to care about what his fans think of him if he wants to keep his fame, but he feels like he took over his talented sister's place after her death and maybe doesn't even deserve his fame. He also feels like God doesn't like him and is constantly making things go wrong around him. When he agrees to star in a reality show about SARs, Boo is tasked to be his main trainer and has to face the spotlight again. Her teammates help Oaken to see that God isn't against him, and Oaken helps her see the truth about what happened in her past and that he's trustworthy.

The main characters were engaging and came across as real people. I cared about what happened to them. Oaken and Boo got to know each other as they worked together and built each other up. There was plenty of suspense from the physical dangers of search and rescue as well as the emotional trials that they faced. The one thing that didn't make sense to me was how people spoke multiple times about sending the chute to the police (and I thought they finally had), yet at the end it was still just sitting around like no one even tried to put it somewhere secure.

The Christian theme was how God can use things in our lives to get our attention. There was no sex or bad language. Overall, I'd recommend this enjoyable suspense.

I received an ebook review copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley.

Where have I been. This is my first book by Susan May Warren and I can*t wait to read more! I devoured One Last Shot in a day. It*s that good! Full of suspense, romance, forgiveness, and second chances, this book kept me quickly swiping my Kindle until the end. And the Alaskan setting made it even more exciting.

Oaken Fox is a handsome Country Music star carrying a lot of baggage. After a fight with a fan, he heads to Alaska to participate in a survivalist adventure show hoping to rehabilitate his image, but when his guide is injured, the show*s producers convince him to stay on and train with Air One Rescue as part of a reality show.

EMT Boo Kingston*s a rookie with Air One Rescue tasked with training Oaken. She*s definitely not interested in another handsome hotshot who*ll break her heart like her ex from the reality tv show she was on. But, the more she*s around Oaken, the harder it is to resist him. When several young women go missing in a snow storm and with a potential murderer on the loose, it*ll take all their ingenuity and strength just to stay alive.

I loved the slow burn romance between Oaken & Boo. They*re both running away from past mistakes and things they need to confront in order to move on. Both let guilt consume them & insist on carrying their burdens alone. I loved how they learned to work together, trust each other, and find forgiveness. And those kisses!

The Air One Rescue team grabbed my heart. I enjoyed how they all supported each other and welcomed Oaken into their group. Their intense, daring rescues kept me on the edge of my seat. They were so realistically portrayed and described that I felt like I was there right along side them.

I also loved the way faith and forgiveness were woven throughout the story. Several members of the Air One team including Moose & London offer sage advice I found myself underlining. I also loved the humor. Ketchup wars anyone.

Highly recommend this intense, swoon worthy, romantic suspense! Now I can*t wait to read the next book in the series. I received an advanced complimentary copy from the author. All opinions are my own and voluntarily provided.

Which one is it? Because guilt is real and it makes us run to forgiveness. But shame is what the devil uses to get us to hide from God. This sums up the story well, both Oaken and Boo are hiding from shame and need to let go of the guilt they feel

Another epic story from the author, this time set in Alaska with the Air One Rescue team. Plenty of edge of your seat action, suspense, spiritual insights that will smack you in the face (I love these), romance, humor, danger, murder and adventure. All of the characters are wonderful and I can't wait to read there stories. I loved that some of the Kingston clan showed up too.

And......Because why not? Every girl needed a good rescue at least once in her life.

Oaken Fox has one last shot at redeeming his career. His manager has arranged for him to join an air rescue group in Alaska for a series of real live TV. He's not thrilled with the idea.

Boo Kingston is an EMT with Air Rescue and she has been assigned with teaching Oaken the ropes. She wants nothing to do with him or the TV show. But if she wants to keep her job she'll have to go along with it.

Right off the bat there is an almost fatal accident. After several other incidents, it becomes apparent that the accidents are not really accidents at all.

Oaken and Boo both have to overcome some very serious issues in this story. Boo was shamed on national TV and Oaken feels responsible for his sisters death. This was a very good story and I recommend it.

I was given this book by Revell Publishing via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated in any way.
