Written in rhyming text and illustrated with the charming art of Gaby Hansen, this simple message of Gods blessing of hands not only entertains . . . as it teaches what wonderful things our hands can do from scratching, latching, and petting a pup to washing dishes with mommy and putting toys in a box . . . but it also conveys the important message: We can use Gods gift of hands to show our love for Him by helping others. The book ends tenderly with a prayer of thanks to God for hands and asks Him to use them again:
One hand, two hands,
Five fingers, ten.
God, thanks, for my hands.
Please, use them again.

Lots of fun to watch kids clap, snap, and wave their hands in the air. Also gives a very important message about what are hands are ultimately used for -- praying! Great book by a great author.

It was a children's book I received from booksneeze.com. The book had very small words and alot of pictures that made it entertaining and fun to read. I know for sure my niece and newphew will love this book very much. They are 3 and 5 and love to read and play games. This book mentioned a few things kids can do with their hands such as helping to clean my room, feed my pets, set and clear the table and gather the trash. Also mentions how kids have kind hands to make a card for a sick person, give a gift to the teacher at school, help a friend put a band-aid on when they have a scrap on their knee, and sharing my snack. The book also mentions loving hands that kids have to fold them to pray to GOD, clap for someone else, to wave to a friend and hug my mom or dad. This book basically is a way for kids to show their mom and dad how much they appreciate them by helping around the house and the most important thing in the book is how we can pray to GOD to give thanks for the many things around us for having GOD in our lives is so rewarding and blessed and how getting to know GOD is one of the best things we could ever have!

This is the first international parcel De'Little Ones received; and this book - One Hand, Two Hands, written by Max Lucado in rhyming text and illustrated with the charming art of Gaby Hansen, has traveled all the way from United States to Malaysia. I told Kylie (my 6 years old daughter) and Kylin (my 3 years old daughter) how far this book has traveled.
Kylin loves this book the most, requesting to sit on my lap and asking me to read the book aloud. She loves the interactive illustrations on every page and she even mimics the girl's action on the book when I read this:
One here and
As I read along, I showed her all the things we can do with our hands and she followed actively with Kylie and me. At the end of their bedtime story, she requested me to read this book again so that she could have fun performing all the wonderful acts with her hands. She even asked me, "Have you seen God before?" after reading this -
_we fold them
Before reading aloud to Kylin, Kylie had the honor of reading the book first. She had no problems reading and understanding the contents, with Kylin and me sitting by her bedside. Kylin listened attentively when Kylie read aloud. At the end of the story, I asked Kylie if she loves this book and she said, "I dunno." When probed further, Kylie revealed that she prefers a pop-up book. :)
This book is a great book for children and I rate this book 5 out of 5. This book teaches children to be grateful to have hands and how they can show love, help others and be kind to others with their hands.

The beautiful illustrations straightaway captured the kids' attention and requested me to read for them on that night.
One Hand, Two Hands is written by Max Lucado in rhyming text and illustrated with the charming art of Gaby Hansen. The language is very simple, plus the interactive illustration, it is very easy for the children to understand. It teaches what wonderful things our hands can do from clapping, scratching, latching, squeezing, waving and petting a pup to washing dishes with mommy and putting toys in a box. As I read along, the kids will actively follow along doing all sorts of fun activities using their hands. Besides that, my 2 years old is also attracted by the beautiful and sweet illustration of the book. This is one of the few books that he will sit with me listen to me finish reading the whole book without running around. :)
I like the message of the book - To encourage the children to help others with their hands, and to encourage them to be creative and think about other ways they can use their hands to be helpful. I rate this book 5 out of 5.

I love the storyline as it is about teaching children how God bless us with our hands and we can do so many wonderful things with it. From doing simple things for themselves to helping others in tiny ways. It also reminds the adults to be thankful too. The prayer at the of the book is also very heartwarming. Written in rhyming text, it is even easier and makes it more fun to read it to a 17 month old toddler. My favourite page is when Max wrote "Wipe tears. Give a gift. Write Grandma a letter. With hands and a hug, we make people feel better". It touches my heart deeply.
Very sweet looking but the jacketed cover was a little flimsy so I had to remove it before my girl could get her hands on it and start tearing or chewing it away.
Perhaps a thicker material would be great for younger kids as some of them enjoy turning the pages over and over again. And with a thicker material, we can read it to even younger little ones.
My girl likes the characters especially the kitten and it reappears in most of the pages. That attracts her. I also love it that we can relate to most of the practical daily chores projected in the book : combing, holding a cup, buttoning shirts. Brilliant! Lovely pictures and soft colors. But the soft colors doesn't really appeal to little ones. Maybe pictures in sharper and bolder colors would do more magic.
I know this is a wonderful book that I can keep reading to my girl for another few years down the road and will grow together with us. Looking forward to more such awesome books in the near future and definitely will recommend this book to friends!
