Momof43 Stars Out Of 5Hard to put down.October 19, 2019Momof4Quality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I'm always excited to find a new author to add to my list of favorites: Lynn Blackburn has been added to that list. I love the way she writes: the heart she puts into the story and the spiritual messages that resonate so deeply. There are light moments as well as tense. The plot was never slow or boring.
Quotes like this one hit home:
"But somewhere along the way I learned the best way to survive was to make a joke out of everything. Keep people laughing and keep things light and you don't have to think about the hard stuff."
"God's callings are as varied as his children, Anissa. All are necessary. None are reserved for the weak and unimportant to handle."
I believe this book is the last in a trilogy, and even though some plot points would have been easier to understand if I'd read the first two books, it didn't make reading this book any less enjoyable.
GrandaddyAAge: Over 65Gender: male5 Stars Out Of 5Hold Your BreathOctober 16, 2019GrandaddyAAge: Over 65Gender: maleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Another great addition to the Dive Team Investigations series. I don't know what comes next from Lynn Blackburn, but I hope she has some more stories in this series. The title of this one makes you wonder if one of the main characters breathes his or her last breath. You will have to read the book to find out because I'm not telling. I enjoyed the interactions between Anissa, Gabe, and their friends. Each has their own specialty, not only at work but in their friendship circle. I particularly got a charge out of the frequent banter between Anissa and Gabe. Fortunately, it seemed they could both take it as well as they could dish it out. The two teenage girls, Brooke and Liz, added greatly to the story. A few times I think I caught myself holding my breath, wondering what was going to happen. The tension mounted from the first shot fired on the lake until the very end. I recommend this book to everyone who loves suspense-filled books.
tumcsecTuscaloosa, ALAge: 55-65Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5sooooo good!October 14, 2019tumcsecTuscaloosa, ALAge: 55-65Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This is book three in the Dive Team Investigations but you can enjoy it even if you've not read the first two. There are three cases being investigated at the same time. One in which Anissa's best friend was murdered and a three year old was abducted. A young teenage boy was shot and killed while swimming in a lake and Anissa is being pursued and followed by an unknown source. Anissa is head of the dive team and Gabe, once an undercover investigator, is now trying to help her find resolution to these crimes. Anissa's supervisor is pushing really hard for these to be solved but there is so much to be uncovered. And of course there is no way they could possibly be tied together. Really?
This novel kept me holding my breath at times but not because I was underwater. So much mystery, so much heart pounding suspense. I didn't want to use a cliche but it truly is a story that will keep you up late into the night turning pages as you try and read faster and faster. And there is a reason for the title but not what you might think...umm.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author but was not required to write a review positive or otherwise. All opinions are my own.
muffinHonea Path, SCAge: 45-54Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Great Read!October 12, 2019muffinHonea Path, SCAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5"One Final Breath" by Lynn Blackburn was an excellent read! This is the third book in the Dive Series. I have been looking forward to this next book, and it didn't disappoint just like the first two. Lynn Blackburn is definitely one of my favorite authors. I have loved everything she's written.
This book follows Gabe Chavez and Anissa Bell. When they discover a teenage boy that has been shot in the water, they team up to find out what really happened. This investigation, in turn, brings up a lot of Gabe's and Anissa's pasts.
I highly recommend this book and the whole Dive Team series. It has suspense, romance and a little twist all thrown in.
I received this book from the publisher through NetGalley for my honest opinion.
BeckySW MIAge: 55-65Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Exciting Last HurrahOctober 8, 2019BeckySW MIAge: 55-65Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Lynn Blackburn has returned for the last hurrah for her Dive Team series, #3, One Final Breath. Gabe Chavez and Anissa Bell rise to the foreground on this novel, falling for each other while trying to escape painful pasts.
The rest of the team is back, fleshing out the character list and bringing love, amusement, and memories from former books. Which leads me to relate that this novel is quite capable of being a standalone; it's just sweeter when the reader can identify with the backstory presented.
The friendship and camaraderie of the dive team and their significant others really impressed me. Between the locale, the season, and the warm atmosphere the friends create, life was almost idyllic...
Until it wasn't. Then life was frantic, uncertain, vomiting past terrifying experiences up in front of those who most needed to remain calm and collected.
Paisley Wilson is an interesting character to watch. The reader won't know what to make of Gabe's arch-nemesis who is suddenly very much a part of this case.
If the romance, intrigue, and suspense aren't enough motivation, Mr. Cook returns and is a great reason to read this book. Everyone needs a Mr. Cook in their lives! He prays his way through adversity and sees much more than is actually visible.
Get this book and dive deep into some great suspense.
I received this book from the author through Revell and NetGalley. No positive review was required, and all opinions are solely my own.
