Every family thinks they have their whole family figured out; everyone has issues, fears or not facing up to their own problems. I don't have sisters but I've friends that do. This book is about sister relationship and aha moments. There were literally times I was telling those sisters to stop and think and maybe listen to each other. Now I know why my brothers roll their eyes at me!! Can't wait for the next book. Great read, Suzanne and so sorry for the loss of your sister.

Some people dream from an early age about what they are going to be when they grow up. Others reach adulthood and still have no idea. Maddie seemed to have what it takes to become an excellent marriage and family therapist from an early age, but had not considered that until she was in college. Immediately she had a goal and worked tenaciously to achieve it from then on. Blaine seemed to bounce from one thing to the next. Maybe her name should have been Rick O'Shea, because she was constantly ricocheting all over the place. However, that was the name of the new pastor of the little church on Three Sisters Island. His mother may have dreamed of him becoming a pastor but that was not his goal when he graduated from high school. I feel the book portrayed the way many people live their lives, always fearing something. Most of the characters dealt with one fear or another. Cooper seemed to be constantly in fear of something, but he was just a little boy. Some of the adults were no better equipped to deal with fear than Cooper. I love the way the author dealt with the topic throughout the story. The message that came through loud and clear is that we should not live our lives in fear. By the way, I don't think any of them had a lifelong dream of growing up and living in fear.

Suzanne Woods Fisher is one of my favorite Christian Authors that I read. These books are different from what she usually writes, but is a great read. i have read the first book, and this one. Thanks Suzanne for sharing a different road in writing from you!

Suzanne Woods Fisher returns her readers to Three Sisters Island for her second installment featuring the Grayson sisters in "On a Coastal Breeze." I love how, even though sister Madison's story arc is featured, everyone in the family gets their time in the sun as well.

Madison Grayson has finally hung her shingle as a newly-minted marriage and family therapist on Three Sisters Island. Her office, in the parsonage basement, is perfect - not too girly, or too colorful. Now, all she needs are clients. When she learns that the island has finally hired a new pastor, she is excited to meet him. Unfortunately, she doesn't put together exactly who he is until he parachutes into town. How could her childhood nemesis, Ricky O'Shea, have changed his ways enough to become a pastor, of all things?

Rick O'Shea fell in love with Maddie Grayson way back in kindergarten, and she's held his heart ever since. As a kid, he spent his time seeking her attention, and using any means possible to do it. Unfortunately, most of them just made her mad. Can adult Rick find a way into adult Maddie's heart while he still has time to love her?

Rick and Maddie seemed so opposite in this story, and yet, that is part of what made them work. Maddie is a worrier - about everything. Rick is a daredevil, taking on every extreme sport he can think of. He helps her to see that her worrying and anxiety only hurt her, and she helps him to see that living his life can have all the adventure he needs without risking his life repeatedly.

I also liked that older sister Camden and her fiance Seth, father Paul, and baby sister Blaine had additions to their stories within this book. It's great to see a family that can work together like this one does. They fight, they argue, and yet, they love each other.

This book can be read on its own, but in my opinion was 100 percent better because I'd read "On a Summer Tide" first. It's a contemporary romance, which is a bit of a departure from Ms. Fisher's usual Amish fiction, but so far, I have loved both books! I cannot wait for Blaine's book to come out! I definitely recommend.

Take a return trip to Three Sisters Island off the coast of Maine in Suzanne Woods Fisher's newest novel, "On a Coastal Breeze" -- a story of overcoming worry, fear and anxiety.

Maddie Grayson, the middle sister, has just opened her therapy business on the island when in flies -- literally -- her childhood nemesis, Ricky O'Shea, to be the island's pastor. Rick was the boy who traumatized her over and over again, and yet secretly she always had a crush on him. So his presence on the island, especially when she's trying to develop a business, puts her constantly on edge.

In the meantime, oldest sister Cam is still trying to set a wedding date with Seth and deal with her son Cooper's quirks while also working hard to bring renewable energy to the island. And youngest sister Blaine wants to take a break from culinary school and find her "food voice."

Filled with just enough romance, "On a Coastal Breeze" is a lovely tale of family dynamics, small town relationships, and the desire to constantly improve one's self as well as one's surroundings. Fisher does a great job of developing very real, very flawed, and very relatable characters. All of our favorites from the first book in the series, "On a Summer Tide," return, including the plucky and quirky Peg Legg and even the dubious Phinney brothers.

Fisher also fills "On a Coastal Breeze" with some incredible themes, like God is never absent; God hears us in every circumstance; we should trust that God can bring good out of bad; and that God tells us "My grace is sufficient for you."

The book's major themes deal with worry, fear and anxiety -- fear of making mistakes and not having enough time to fix them; no one is immune to fear; and fear, worry and anxiety only block us from truly living. As Rick says during one of his sermons: "Did you know that 'Fear not' is mentioned three hundred and sixty-five times in the Bible? One for every day. The Lord knows we have problems with fear. Every one of us. No one is immune. All of us have fears of some kind."

This story could be read as a standalone, but I'd highly recommend reading "On a Summer Tide" first as much of this story's plot refers back to book one. I'm guessing there will be a third book to dive more into Blaine's story, and if so, I'm truly looking forward to it.
