The best use of our money and time. This is not for someone who wants an easy work load, it takes a lot of heavy reading but is so worth the effort. My son who is not a strong reader has now become one. He absolutely loves it even though it's a bit difficult. It's really stretching him, and he's mature so much in his thinking and academics because of it. He likes the fact that he's reading books he would normally not read like Herodotus, Gilgamesh, and even R.C. Sproul's in 9th grade . It is an honors class.
I have been looking at this for over a year and was not sure but I went ahead and purchased it. Boy am I glad I did. This is for my oldest child who I am trying to teach to think outside the box and to not always look for the quick easy answer is her studies. This fit the bill. It will probably take her more than one year to finish the book combined with other studies but I am not concerned with that. This is a fabulous way to teach your children the aspects of the Bible and Literature at the same time.
Although the content of this work is obviously well researched and certainly gives the student a very thorough review of history, Literature and art, I found it to be far too heavy a load for my children. The amount of work they are expected to complete daily is just too much. I think that the questions that relate to the material are pertinent and the contents very engaging. I do not think this book works for students who are already carrying a heavy coarse load. I am using it this year for a Freshman and 8th grader and they both struggle to find the time to complete the suggested daily schedule. I do not like the lack of a teachers book to grade the questions either.
