Product Description

The last command Jesus gave before he ascended to heaven was the Great Commission, the call to "make disciples of all the nations." But Christians have responded by making "Christians," not "disciples." This, according to renowned Christian thinker Dallas Willard, has been the church's Great Omission. Drawing upon previously published articles from magazines such as Christianity Today and Leadership Journal as well as remarks given at various conferences, Willard challenges the thought that we can be Christians without being disciples. He calls on believers to restore what should be the heart of Christianity - being active disciples of Jesus Christ. Willard shows us that in the school of life, we are apprentices of the Teacher whose brilliance encourages us to rise above traditional church understanding and embrace the true meaning of discipleship - an active, concrete, 24/7 life with Jesus. Unabridged. 7.5 hours. 6 CDs. Read by Grover Gardner.

An excellent treatise on spiritual formation. The reader of the audiobook (Grover Gardner) is well suited to the task and easily draws the listener into its contents. A wealth of biblical information on the Kingdom of God and practical illustrations of what it means to be a follower of Jesus Christ. Dallas Willard is a tremendous thinker whose perspective has challenged and encouraged me to pursue spiritual formation and to live out the Christian life the way it was intended. It took me just over a week to finish the CDs while driving to the gym, to work and home. Now that I've finished I find myself listening to it again to take down notes on my computer. The only drawback to the audiobook is not having the notes in front of you when you have an "Aha!" moment. Having said this, I believe I got more out of listening to the book than reading it.
