suttbelle2 Stars Out Of 5Alcott movieDecember 28, 2015suttbelleQuality: 5Value: 4Meets Expectations: 2I like many of Louisa May Alcott's works so I was looking forward to this movie. I felt the movie had a negative emphasis and I did not like Tilly praying to the statue of Byron. It seems to glorify an immature, self-centered girl and reward her with her heart's desire. I just didn't care much for the movie although I did like the restoration of relationships at the end. I also liked the fact that it was a clean movie--no bad language, no innuendos.
Anna Beth5 Stars Out Of 5An Old Fashioned ThanksgivingNovember 30, 2015Anna BethQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0I bought this as a gift for my family. We saw it several years ago on television, so we remembered bits of it. We all really enjoyed the movie and plan on watching it yearly. The only thing I didn't like too much was when Tilly prays to Byron - something another person mentioned in their review. Other than that, the story is great!

--If you are looking for something based on the book of the same name by Louisa May Alcott... well, zero stars! Other than the title and the fact that a couple characters have the same name there is NO, and I repeat, NO similarities between the two stories!! At all!
This actually is a little bit more like they morphed the Little Women Jo character and made her the lead of this story.
--But, to stand alone as a move, it wasn't a terrible movie, but it wasn't wonderful either. Similar to what I was expecting, I guess. I really liked the acting of the two sisters. (Except I kept thinking they were trying to play the characters of Little Women.)
--If you're looking specifically for a holiday movie, you'll probably be disappointed because the focus is not on Thanksgiving, but on family drama and teen romance. Thanksgiving is just a side plot, and a small one at that.
I did like the movie. Not enough to watch it yearly, but every few years, maybe.
So, really, I wish I could give it 3.5 stars, but since I can't, I'm going to round up to 4...
