Is our Christianity that of the New Testament?
"God and men and their relation to each otherthis I believe to be all that really matters in the world, and that is what I have written about here."
A. W. Tozer
Like a physician running a biopsy on lifeless faith, here A. W. Tozer offers one of the most compelling critiques of feigned spirituality you may ever read.
In Of God and Men, Tozer exposes false religious notions and lifts up true New-Testament Christianity. A loving and gentle critique of culture and even the church, it reveals lies we unknowingly believe, godless practices we unknowingly do, and treasures of Christ we unknowingly ignore. A manifesto of true religion, Of God and Men will set your foot on the narrow path and lift your heart in soaring worship.

Unapologetically honest, yet lovingly exhorting the brethren. That's how I would describe Tozer's works. This book, as any other of Tozer's works, has spoken deeply to my soul. Tozer exposes religious ideas, practices, and mindsets that are so stuck in society and even the church. To have a genuine relationship with the Father, one must not need the help of aimless, hollow practices and mantras. In "Of God and Men" Tozer's goal is to connect Christ followers with the Truth. Tozer presents the contrasts between the "old man" and the "new man" to bring the hungry reader for spiritual revival and change to possess saving faith. 5 stars out of 5

With his characteristic no-nonsense candor and frighteningly accurate prophetic tendencies, Tozer offers practical insights on man's relationship to God and one another. The book's greatest strength is also its potential flaw. Formatted with 40 chapters within 160 pages (about 4 pages per chapter), each chapter can be read in a few minutes. This is great for the reader on the go or one who gets started on a chapter only to put it down before finishing it. But the downfall of this approach is its content. The content is generally thought-provoking and challenging, but loosely related to the title. Of God and Men is a very wide-ranging theme that can span a very diverse range of topics. Some of the most notable chapter are "We Must Have Better Christians," Exposition Must Have Application," "On Calling Our Brother a Fool," and "On Backing into Our Convictions." Some people may not agree with Tozer's analysis of the Christian life, but few will say that there is nothing noteworthy or valuable in the book. You should proceed to read this book just as Tozer had intended his audience to respond when he said, "I offer this book for whatever good they may be able to extract from it." Mine the gold and leave the rest, and there is definitely much here to be mined.
I received this book free from the publishers in return for an honest review.
